im supposedly coming up on some pretty big cash here in the near future…
i thought bout investing just with stocks and stuff like that, but im starting to lean more towards an actual business…
ive been going to a place lately for movies called the movie tavern… www.movietavern.com
and they have a great set up, walk in, theres an open bar, movies are fairly cheap at 8 bucks for all new movies, and heres where it gets good, they have a resturant style set up in the theater, they have leather chairs/seats and when youre seated, you have a menu in which y ou can order drinks (both regular and alcohol) and food/appetizers/dessert that is what youd see at a chilis or applebees
i was talking to one of the guys last night that was a manager and he told me to break even on costs of opening everything and business start up, takes bout 6 months, and he said last month (i coulda sworn he said last week, but that seems pretty crazy) they pulled in 120k worth of business…
it seems like a great concept thats starting to slowly take off across the country. but im not sure how much start up costs and how many investors youd need to get into that…
also another idea… and it really is a gold mine, but not really morally right, is a liquor store… i know you can do really good with one of those, but i dont really wanna be the guy in the family that owns a booze place…
any other ideas or suggestions to what ive said so far ? also if anyones interested in working with the ideas ive said, PM me and well talk bout that in private…
yeah… i thought that was pretty quick too, but if you think about it, youre really covering all the angles… dinner, movie, drinks, and for a family of 4 could easily drop close to 100 bucks in just one movie and food/drinks
That Movie Tavern looks cool, but how bad is it with people talking and eating while a movie is going on?

its not bad at all… they have a table in front of you and a lil button that you push when you want service. they have your waiters come in, and they stay pretty quiet and out of site while youre watching, and then youll get your check bout 20 min before the end of the movie so y ou dont have to wait for a crowd
i saw 4 movies there so far and ill go back every time to see one

how hard is it to come up with the rest…say you had 3/4 of the money up front or so, what do investors really look for, and what is the min youd have to come up with to est a new business?
i know i could look this up, but if someone actually has experience in this, id rather listen to them

dunno if it’d work as well in your area as it would in WNY.
“Come up with the rest”?
Basically, you can contact corporate or regional mgmt, get on the waiting list, and when called upon put up the 250-350k. Property, building, equip leasing, franchising costs, etc. are inclusive.
I do not have the stats for ROI and avg net income off hand, sorry.

im really looking to do it just bout anywhere. im military, so im moving around a lot…
as for the come up with the rest…
it was meant as if, say i put down 100-150k on something, how much would investors actually come up with to cover the rest of the costs for starting up. would they actually cover the rest knowing that theyd get their money in return, or do they only provide a certain amount percentage wise?
i was a business law major back in college, but that was so long ago, i think it may be time to hit the books again…
Oh, yeah, that is a very famous shipping lane. The locks that bypass the Hover Dam, the canal traffic in the Grand Canyon, and the 9000 ft elevation at the start that is on the Western side of the rockies, and Denver is on the East. Maybe at this casino they could have an outgoing mailbox for mail pick-up.
You don’t start turning a real profit until your business has been successful for about 10 years. Think about how much money it would cost for supplies, furnature, staff, paying what theatre’s have to pay to get movies and play them, etc. It would take tons of money to get that idea started. It sounds like it has alot of potential but I can assure you that you won’t be turning a huge profit in 6 months. It could be less than 10 years of course but try and be realistic Good luck!!

lol just to make sure we’re clear, I’m being sarcastic. I mean, I’m short on common sense every once in a great while but not that bad.
Its a nice idea in theory but you have to look at a lot of different things. If its a franchise startup they usually want you to have somewhere in the range of 150-500k liquid. Even after your initial startup you’re going to incur a lot of costs you don’t think about thats why most franchises want you to have extra liquid money. I’m not sure how hard it is to get a liquor license in WNY but I know in Vegas its not easy and its not cheap at all. Liquor licenses here start in the $150,000 range depending on location. Also if business doesn’t pick up right away like you hope you’re going to have a pretty large payroll since you’re going to have movies, food, alcohol, etc that will need man power to accomplish. Also, buying/leasing a building for this venture would require hundreds of thousands of dollars if not more for something the size you’re talking about. I think you need need a good investment banker and a good mutual fund.
