So I was just offered a decent deal on a car in Florida. I’m realllly wanting to take advantage of it, but shipping costs to get it here are roughly $800.
A friend of mine has enough frequent flyer miles saved up to take most of nyspeed there for no cost, and she volunteered to take the drive back up with me.
The car is definitely mechanically able to make the drive no problem.
My question is…
How does one go about registering a car that is currently in a different state, so it can be driven back home?
Also, how about insuring the car?
thanks!
you can get a temp florida transport plate to make the drive up if you insure it before you go. All you need is the VIN to put it on your insurance.

Ok so insurance is simple. Thanks.
Is that something i would get at the NY dmv prior to going down?
Would I need the title from the car in-hand (as in they have to mail it to me or whatever) to get the transport plates?
p.s.
this is possibly the lamest 4th of july ever. period.
when i got my car from florida the guy sent the title to me and i registered it here.I would do what JOE said and just make sure everything is in good condition before you give him the cash

yea it’s a friend of my grandmother’s, so it should be safe. Dealer maintained everything, all records, etc…
he called her and asked if she knew anyone looking for a 2000 audi a4 quattro 1.8t 5spd, with every factory option known to man. He’s older, and the only owner of the car. black//black leather = <3
roughly 50k miles, price is well under kbb, i don’t think i will be able to turn down teh hottnessss, as long as this isn’t too much of a pain in the ass…which it looks like it won’t be.
