After seeing this at the Autoshow, I always thought this made more sense than the Volt.
Rather than charge people $40k for an electric/hybrid Cruze, build a ~$55k Cadillac. I think there is a much bigger market of high end tree hugers that want a premium ride to drive to Whole Foods.
Maybe they were waiting to build it on the ATS platform but that is RWD.
I guess “Well” should be defined. The Volt is moving 150 units a month right now.
I think it would be a better looking and therefore a better halo car.
Personally, the idea of a $55k EREV as a Cadillac makes more sense than a $40k Chevy. And as a Cadillac, you won’t have to think you have to sell in bulk like other mass-market brands.
And Cadillac has always had a legacy of delivering new technology - all the way back to the interchangeable part and electric starter…
If it got more then 35 miles on a charge i would buy one. They have all these new charging stations at work(engine plant) where you can plug in for free.
