OK
I have an 87 325e that is puffing black smoke and bogging on the throttle, rpms at idle fluctuate between 650 and 900. Sometimes when I rev the engine it will hit 3000 and shudder then fall. Every time I shift and get back on the throttle it spits black smoke, and sometimes when I come to a complete stop and then get back into first the rpms will fall to near stall then i have to rev the shit out of the engine for it to idle properly.
I replaced the injectors with mustang 19lb. I installed a performance chip. I replaced the coolant temp sensor, there are no vacuum leaks and I have done plug wires. I have also done an oil change and plugs once a month for the first 3 months. (the car sat for 2 years)
I originally thought the car was running rich but the plugs are dry and have a normal amount of carbon. I know there is an exhaust leak probably from the cat, I am planning on going catless soon. I was told that this could be the o2 sensor but i have never heard of it making this much of a problem.
sorry if I sound disheveled but this is really pissing me off :scott: lol
I actually found out (i hope) whats wrong with it. I was going to through pics up and make a funny title update but meh I’m embarrassed enough for missing this.
So I was looking under the car to size up the amount of piping I’m going to need for the cat removal and I figured I would check the o2 sensor. After looking for it for a few seconds I found an empty plug and an unoccupied whole on the pipe leading from my cat.
IN MY DEFENSE. The problem was intermittent so I figured it wasn’t the o2 sensor.:picard:
lol he’s just tryin to get some traction to dem back wheels.
yeah its throwing a code but out here in the boonies I had three mechanics say they don’t work on bmw’s and two tried to charge me out the ass just to check codes.
