hey guiys ive been weigh a few options and dave was like why dont i use a cadillac norstar v8 well besides the notorious head gasket ealing problems NO-ONE makes perfromances cams for the LH2 which is the RWD version of the nortsar v8 excellent stock power gets better gas mileage than the ls1 and makes identical power and torque ratings
and my seconddecision is possibly a 6.0L LQ9 aluminum heads and iron block solid cam, nitrous and carbureted
cameo, bottom line do what you want and can afford. Forced induction can make just about any motor pretty quick. forget all this motor swapping bs and and think about adding a procharger turbo or spray.
No overdrive and 4.10’s certainly doesnt mean good gas mileage and it would probably be best to stay off the highway because the motor will be screaming at 65-70+.
Ive got 4.10’s in my car and it doesnt seem to go over 120. Ive got overdrive so its not bad on the highway and Ive done alot of highway driving with it.
if this guy was smart he would tune his car now, throw a 100 wetshot on it and it would be fast enough, why spend money where you dont need to, i dont understand the whole swap deal, what are your goals for your car? It seems like you just want to throw an lsx engine in it for the hell of it, chances are it wont happen if you dont plan out your build, e.i. what are you doing with the car? drag car or road car? Looking for a street friendly car or a weekend warrior? simply what are you trying to do with the car, you wont figure out shit with just throwing a different motor in the thing
he would make out better and cheaper if he just sold his damn car and picked up a Used LSx car…or if he wants to do a motor swap…sell his, pick up a decent junk yard V6 camaro and take the rest of the money you made off selling your Z28 and dump it into the V6 for the motor swap.
theirs smarter ways to do things…but a northstar V8 is retarted.
this kid is what ya call a stroker, he strokes it to whatever idea comes into his head and it spills into hear if ya want a lsx powered car sell the lt1 car and buy a lsx car cheaper ,easier, done right and not cobbed ,as this kid couldnt do it himself i did the whole swap thing to my 93 it aint fun and it would of been cheaper to buy a lt or lsx car ,i dont think he realizes everything he has to change in his car to make any motor work, the lt1 has its own motor mnt setup in the 4th gen so ya cant just drop a gen 1 or gen 3 motor in it ,the k frames are diff ,cooling system ,p/s system , etc etc
suspension have different ratings too…if he drops a LSx motor in his LT1, that front end is gonna sit way higher then the rear…it will look retarted unless he puts LS1 springs on it.
