alex u stop it right now
where’s your D80 foo? lol. Hurry up and get that shit.
There’s always someone who says buy a Ferrari when you’re shopping for a Z06.
Sure, the D80 is AMAZING, but it carries a big price tag. Hell a D80 with no lens is more than both the packages he’s looking at.
also for someone starting off with DSLR’s, a D80 is completely unnecessary IMO. Plus it’s soon to be replaced so you might as well wait for whatever is replacing it to come out.
if you can still get a D50 you should get that… that camera was the shit, wayyy too many features for its price tag when it was released.
fine! D50!! nono… wait… D40x!
If it is the Amazon deal it is a VR lenses. That is what I got and with shipping was 597.
The place i got my camera at has the D80 body for 399.00
^wtf, I just don’t trust those prices…
If you got a camera from them congrats, but most people just got ripped off:

I could keep posting, google is full of people bitching about them.
Should I throw this into the mix? the D60? lol

and I have 12% off so it would be $792 + tax
Leaning towards the D40…but still researching at work lol
for that much, I’d get the D80. I’ve had my D50 for almost 2 years and have loved it. I think for a first DSLR it’s great. If I had to buy another camera here is what I’d do…
if it were my first DSLR: D40x
After having my D50 for a while: D80
I’ll be honest, a lot of the the photo guys here in boston use some pretty nice Canon cameras and I’m generally impressed with what comes out of the camera… those are pretty high end Canons though.
buy the d40 for now. the d60 has a couple nice added features, but it’s not going to give you better pics than the d40x.
buy the 40, then i’ll sell you my 60 when I want to upgrade.
Oh just order the fucking D40.
D40 ftw. The wife and I love ours… very durable, and does everything you could ask of it. Don’t need the extra MP unless you’re going larger than 8X10. Another tidbit for you: If you’re at all interested in indoor pictures, get a real flash to go with it (We have the SB-400 and love it)
I have the Rebel XT. I looked at the XTi when purchasing mine (at the time they still offered both) and found the XT to be a better camera for my money. I do have to agree though, that after using a friend’s Nikon a few times, that it seems like a more sturdy camera. I always feel like my Cannon is so fragile.
You know you could have just asked Karen…she could answer this question pretty easy I bet.
Buy my D40x
already got her opinion thank you!
