where did you get it?
there’s just a couple things not good about that package tho.
- That 70-300mm lens, isn’t going to autofocus on the d40 body.
- It’s not a VR lens. And zoom lenses are definitely where you want VR. you’ll def be putting the tripod to use with it.
but either way, that’s a sick deal for the money.

Did you get the email yet telling you to call because they need more info? When you call they’re going to try to upsell you on everything and do everything they can not to ship you what you ordered for the price you paid. Do a search for barclaysphoto on google.
I looked at several of these “killer deals” on ebay when I bought my d40 but after reading horror story after horror story I ordered from Newegg when they did the $50 paypal promotion.
And not having autofocus or VR on that zoom lense is going to suck.

I have the 70-300mm, I like it. Mine is on the D50 though so it will auto focus.
Should I just do this…instead of dealing with scammers?
^ That’s pretty much exactly what I did. Shopped around and found a good deal from a site I trusted (newegg, amazon, buy.com, ritz camera, butterfly photo, adorama).
At the time I bought the Newegg deal was the best, but that deal with Amazon is pretty good right now. Not sure if the one you posted is the VR version of the 55-200 lense though. Most people highly recommended getting VR for when you’re shooting at 200mm without a tripod.

Take the company name from the link where you keep finding these deals that seem too good to be true. In this case, “bwayphoto”.

BTW, you owe me a beer for keeping you from getting scammed at least 3 times in this thread. 
Now, I’m not saying there won’t be deals on Nikon cameras. Sometimes companies end up with too much stock and are willing to let some go cheap. The D60 came out which should help lower D40/D40x prices, but SLR’s don’t seem to depreciate like cars where everyone wants the new model over the old one. Any time you see a real good price you should automatically be suspicious if you haven’t done business with the company before.
yeah…this is why i was suspicious. I would be able to research more, but I’m at work lol.

Are all nikon DX lenses assumed to be VR lenses?
I would guess no, but the add on amazon said VR lens, then said DX on the other screen. I know there is a DX Vr lens so now im confused.
looks like I just answered my own question. DX doesnt always me VR…
Definitely no. Usually VR lenses have a higher price than non VR. Best option, order direct from amazon not through one of their “partners”, no game playing, you’ll get exactly what you order.
