It has officially pissed me off now. Reading over at ls2gto.com it sounds like it’s about a 30 second job if you have the software. Anyone want to hook me up?
I’d be willing to bet that New Era does it. Stop by there on your way to NYIRP maybe?
It’s either that, or $10 worth of resistors, if you want to climb under the car.
lol…mine never happens because my foot is always on it…
Yeah, mine has happened 3 times in the 1100 miles I put on the car since Friday, and that was enough to piss me off.
I’m going to give New Era a call today because I’d much rather have this changed in the software.
Is this the CAGS system?
If so, search some Vette forums. They use some resistors as mentioned (actually i think it is only 1) to defeat it.

Sounds like the shitty ass CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Selection) JaysGreenLX mentioned above. You could always just get this: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog/?action=vshop&vid=13&pcid=174. That will take care of the crappy skip-shift and it’s $21.99 for a quick and easy fix. Also, check out www.ls1tech.com if you’ve got time, it’s a great site and has tons of useful info. Hope this helps.
I bought that when I had my vette  worked great
Yeah, I know I can eliminate it by unplugging it and sticking a resistor in it, but I’d much rather just have it removed from the computer. From what I’ve read on LS2gto.com it takes literally 30 seconds if you have the software.
I may just go this route:

Because at least that doesn’t leave an exposed plug dangling.
EDIT: Damn that was fast. Yeah, what BAD99TA posted.
Or just go to radioshack and get a $0.05 resistor and save the $20
:word:
hehe

Did this on my 'Vette. Takes longer to jack up the car than to install it. The 1-4 light will still show up on the dash.
I could care less about the 1-4 light, since normally I’m looking at the road when I’m shifting at a slow enough speed to cause it to engage anyway.
Heck, I’d sell you mine (came with both plug ends) for like $5 - that is, if I had access to the car in the first place.
I bought one on Ebay for $20 shipped.
Very nice quality part. Weather proof connector for the harness, and a nice little weather proof plug to stick in the empty socket on the transmission. Even came with 3 little zip ties to secure it. Took me longer to jack the car up and secure it than to install the part.
