Can you buy a warranty for a modified car

I am looking to purchase a car from out of the area that has some engine modifications that include:

  • CAI
  • Dashhawk
  • Catted downpipe
  • Catback exhaust
  • FMIC
  • HPF pump
  • exhaust manifold
  • catch canI know that these mods will definitely void the manufacturers warranty… but does anyone know if you can purchase any of those extended warranties that would cover a modified car?

Any help would be appreciated…

you are buying a cobalt?

i think that would only work with dealer performance parts like mazdaspeed ect. also having them dealer install and 50 state smog legal

No its definitely not a cobalt. The parts weren’t from the dealer either, so I am thinking I’m out of luck as far as a warranty. I am a little concerned that with the mods it would reduce the longevity of the engine, but the engine management devices and dashhawk… perhaps the engine would run better and would certainly alert me to any problems that car is encountering.

None of those parts are big upgrades so i dont know about it hurting the motor. But i have no clue about warranties on modded cars.

some insurance companies you can actually state the value of your car and include the value of the car itself and add in any mods

you can buy anything.does not mean they will cover it

you can not buy a warranty.
You are looking for a service contract.
You can buy one and they will cover A/C, power windows, etc.
But getting them to cover and engine claim or tranny would be difficult.
Also buying one after the time of purchase outside of a manufactures warranty would be very difficult.

thanks for the info guys. I may just take the chance and hope that the mods aren’t going to kill the engine

No offense, but I think you should learn a bit more about modded cars before going and buying one. These mods will in no way harm your motor unless the tune is absolute shit.

Thanks a lot guys. I figured that was the case, but thought it was worth asking. The mods that are done are basically bolt on, so hopefully mindless is right, and it shouldn’t hurt the motor.

part of my concern is that the original engine was replaced with only 33000 miles on the car. The dealer covered everything under warranty and gave him a new engine, turbo, clutch and transfer case in the last 9000 miles. So obviously something went wrong with the original motor when it had some mods. I am trying to find out what he’s done differently since the original motor was replaced

Ah, I see, would have been good to put in the first post. Sounds like he beat the car fairly hard.

I’m assuming some form of subaru?

no. mazdaspeed6

oh hmm. I’m not sure. I’d go to the dealer and ask about it, see what they say about the warranty.

hmmmm… whats the price on this automobile? any accidents?

this the car?

skip to 1:30

he could have went to a oil change place that forgot to put oil in the engine i have heard of this happening

I would turn and run the other way.

most companies would probably even deny claims on those parts

do this.
