I like the Cruze but its a bit more expensive and gets a little less MPG as well. Also it doesnt have the warranty that the Elantra has or the roadside assistance. Hyundais warranty is pretty ridiculous.
Hyundai’s have come a long way in recent years with their quality and dependability. My company lets me use one for work and even with 120K miles on it it still treats me good.
I hear you on the warranty side of things. My younger brother actually has a 2010 elantra and I told my father that was the car to get for him due to the warranty and the fact that the Cruze wasn’t out and Cobalts are junk. GM does have a 5yr 100k powertrain warranty and the 3/36 bumper to bumper, but the Hyundai 5/60 bumper to bumper is not going to be beat.
hyundais have comeee a lonnnggggg way in the last few yrs . we have em come in but its rarely suttin bad or exp mostly maint or routine crap lol . its either there getting better or the american compacts are getting a lot shittier , or both . my wife wants a new sante fe for a daily but im wanting her into a sequioa so i can haul my car around
I looked at the Cruze and Mazda 3 today, I liked the cruze a lot but the only thing the Mazda really had going for it was looks. Ive been to Garvey, Lia, and Fucillo. Between the 3 of them they have had 2 Elantras, every salesman says they cant keep them in stock since they are selling so fast. Compared to the chevy and mazda dealers that each had at least 10-15 Cruzes and 3’s. If I could get a Cruze for 17k like an Elantra Id really consider it but since they cant be had for less than 20k it seems im sticking with the Elantra.
Cruze would not be a bad choice either and you can also wait for the Veloster if you are not in a rush. I am a sucker of both of their alter ego…:bowdown
I was looking to buy in a month or so but I might have to move things up a bit with these gas prices, looks like $4 is going to get here fast. My gf’s Jeep probably doesnt even get 20mpg on the highway.
Test drove a Sonata today, I really liked it. The 6 speed automatic makes a huge difference and they are still rated at 35-36 mpg highway. Weighing all of my options now between buying or leasing either a sonata or elantra. Im actually leaning towards leasing a Sonata SE, with a 15k mile lease it would still only be $250 a month which is dirt cheap. Im hoping Hyundai will release some pretty good incentives in the next few days as well.
Yea I think me and my gf can find a really good deal. Ill be able to put at least 3k down and me and her both have pretty damn good credit scores (both over 700). So we have some bargaining power it seems.
If you like the Sonata, take a look at the Kia Optima. Same bones underneath, but I think the interior is nicer, a little more upmarket looking for the same coin.
