My set up
Alpine deck - only has pre-amps thus everything is amp’ed
2 alpine type Rs 10s
2 random door speakers (amp’ed)
stock 6x8s (amp’ed)
Problem -
when I turn up on a CD there is no problem at all. clear clean bass and sound. sounds great at volume 20
when i turn the radio up past 10 its fuzzes and distorts and has no bass or sound.
So far i have checked all my wires. I re - conected my antenna away from all other audo / power wires.
Later today I’m going to ground my amp to my battery in my trunk.
amp is also in trunk.
Any other suggestions?
I think you’re troubleshooting in the wrong direction… if you know it runs clean with a CD… then it’s got to be either the head unit or the antenna. you also have to factor in how bad radio quality really is and also that radio stations use a ton of EQ to make bad systems sound louder.
I have two different EQs for radio vs CD and I still don’t listen to radio very much.
True, but the radio used to work fine intill recently.
yeah… but if it’s “source dependent” then it’s either the source, or the preamp (in this case your headunit).
thats true, I pull the radio in and out alot, I figured I screwed something up. I’ll play with the antenna tonight
