Im driving on the thruway going 60mph in the middle lane all of a sudden car dies out.i go to turn it over again seems like no spark i check under the hood take second spark plug out and its swimming in oil.i was guessing maybe the valve cover seals are bad but check to see if i would get spark without putting it back in the head and still no spark.
What can be the problem of no spark and sparkplugs swimming in oil?
Need to fix theses problems asap hope i didnt blow the motor
The first thing I’d do is get a new VC gasket kit and run a compression test.
a little more info on make modle engine would be nice… but if its a honda I start with replacing the distributor.
well if the plug is covered in oil you wont get a spark no matter how good the ignition is
he pulled the plug out of oil and tested for spark me thinks the oil may have shortened the life of somthing, and that something in the dizzy poopied.
As much as Vw/audi suck coil-packs at-least you can drive them home
Ive gone threw atleast 2 dizzys per honda Ive owned and ALWAYS left me stranded somewhere.
But this all goes on the fact that the OPs car is a honda. is it?
I’ve found that if people dont post what car it is then you can bet its a honda. most likely an eg civic
Sorry thought i had posted what it is
Well its integra ls
While i was sitting there with this jerk trooper all i seen was audis and vw driving buy and makes me want to leave this pocket breaking honda game
and what? by an audi or vw to get into a more expensive game?
yes, that was on purpose.
Lol yea they are more expensive.hondas are suppose to last long if u baby the car and dont beat on it.
Well tomorrow ima take everything apart and see what i can find wrong ill keep it updated if anyone has any more info on what can be wrong plz let me know thanks i appreciate it
Its the spark plug hole gaskets to the valve cover. common problem. And hondas will last forever if you take care of them. You can beat on them all you want.
I just sold my 01 accord with 200k on it, had a eg hatch with 300k, and an ek coupe with 250k. babying a car does nothing if you don’t maintain them. But random things happen from time to time no matter what
speaking of travis eg hatch. I beat the living hell out of it before gettign rid of it, and, to my knowledge its still a race car somewhere, even after a crasharama
deff do the compression test, my guess would be bad stem seals in the head. it leaks down on the pistons when it sits, if they are only a little bad, causing smoke on start up and first driving, i the stem seals are really bad, it could fill while driving. ofcourse the first fix is the valve cover gaskests, but if it is the stem seals, youll be replacing them again after you pull the head.
how could stem seals fill up the spark plug holes?
I think there are 2 issues.
- the oil = valve cover gaskit
2)Stop running = Dizzy (distributor)
Otherwise he would have spark.
get a valve cover gasket with with spark plug o-ring seals
and ls distributors are so dirt cheap its ridiculous (most likely coil)
Yea im going to try replacing the valve cover gaskets and the distributor
@karter the car does not smoke during start up or while running
LOL, soo true.
Like the FS section… if you don’t see what model car it’s for in the title, it’s for a Honda!
