i really need some help, my car was overheating b/c my radiator was leaking, i
drove the car a few times even tho no coolant. so then i order the radiator and replaced it for a new one, i didnt drive the car after that for around 1 1/2 month. Now 2 month later i install new header, down pipes, cat, and muffler, and i also change my spark plugs, and notice they were filled with oil. The car starts no problem, but when i hit the gas the car stutters to drive, but it only happends when i gas alot, i can drive the car ok as long as i dont do any rapid acceleration and if i cant do that i might as well put a bomb on my car and send it to the moon, what its wrong?? do i just need to replace my valve cover gaskets???
if you have oil on the spark plugs i would def look into changing the valve cover gasket, and don’t forget the lil spark plug well ones too (thats the one(s) thats prolly leaking, are they ALL covered in oil or just one?
thnx, for reply guys, and yea is only one of the plugs, that is filled with oil, the valve cover gaskets come with some lil doughtnuts or some rings is that what i need then???
also when car is on idle, it revs to like 1.2k rpm then it drops to 800rpm and it keeps doing that, after some time it stops and it idles ok at just 800rpms. i just hope those rings take care of all this mess lol.
no lights on dash, very miss leading.
the thing is i never did anything to car, or change fire order, all i did was install the exhaust system, and even b4 i did that i notice the plug with oil, but since car was not running it was not that bad, but now it really has oil on it?? could it be the heat that kill my gaskets???
replace the valve cover gasket and then get back to us untill you change that i don’t want to see you post anything else. the oil is the plug well WILL cause a missfire under hard accelaration it happens in the SHO community all the time.
don’t know what to say, install valve cover gasket kit and still having the same issue:crap: , no oil in plugs tho, but it might be the distributor, i saw some sparks coming out of it, am going to replace it and also the wires, tell you guys how it goes. should all be done by friday.
by the way any 1 knows if these are symptoms of bad distributor or spark wires???
i really don’t know, the car was driven by my bro for a long long time, don’t know when he did 1, if he actually did, good idea it might need 1 anywas, so am going to take care of that as well. give you update on friday
yea do what jskrapper suggested, a full tune up of all those lil things. and even tho it wasn’t the valve cover gasket, it did stop the oil from leaking down in there so its not like it was money/time wasted
The oil in the spark plug galley is bad for two reasons: it will eventually soak the plugs and it will immediately soak the plug boot which will cause the boot to deteriorate. This deterioration will create a path for spark to jump to the cylinder head causing the misfire. It is good that you changed the valve cover gasket now you just need to finish the general maintenance of the vehicle and that should clear up all problems. If there is still an issue bring it down to Hybrid Connection… we can check timing and compression test it.
ok guys, thnx for all support, the tune up did it, its running like a champ now, i did it 1 at a time, and the problem was the spark plug wires, as soon i put those in it was like i gave my car some viagra. pure speed, it idles like a sleep baby.
