well, for that kind of money, I might be looking at A4’s. a little bit more than 15K would get her in S4 territory, but you said you wanted less than 15K if possible, so im sure that is out of the question. Maxima isnt a bad choice. you could get a fairly low mileage 00-03, fully loaded with HID’s for that much. and 00 was the year they bumped up to about 225 hp if memory serves correctly.
When i went to buy the Max it was a toss up between that and a SC300. They are definately nice cars, but Lexus replacement parts are not exactly cheap. If you can find one in good shape with low miles, I say go for it. Fuck the little kids. They are little, they shouldnt mind riding in the back. If my fat ass can do it, then they can.

I have a good friend that is a Lexus Tech. so parts & labor aren’t a big thang. 
As for the kids it turns out that my GF is getting laid off anyway. The kids are 15, 9 and 6 so the youngest is now in school and they don’t think they need her anymore. So fuck it. Of course now she can’t exactly go buying a car. So I guess the car thing is on hold for her for a bit now… but when she does the options are fully open again.

audi high miles isn’t an issue …
saab i don’t know for sure, i only know one person with a 2.0t and it’s around 40k
the volvo, my boss has a twin turbo 6. it has over 85k and runs perfect… no real issues… he did have stupid shit break like the abs module that cost him about 600 bucks… but you’re going to have that with any high end car.
parts are sometimes killer, pricing and availibility, but also, with a turbo motor, high milage isn’t an issue, unless the people didn’t do regular oil changes with good oil… bad oil will kill a turbo in no time… so it’s tough to say.
those are just my picks of car’s i’d rock… i know the s60 2.8tt is a sweet car… and the 5 cy is a good motor.
you’d have to ask around regarding parts and working on them… but i know volvo owners that claim their cars last as long as vw / honda’s…
