Maybe you can put at the gate. Then I can have some good target practice. Shooting all of the fucked up assholes bring the dogs and kids over…
Maybe north park is down the road, but maybe I want my dog with me?
Take your ass back to grade school.
I think some of you all missed the point that pets are many peoples family. It is no different than kids. You stay away from my dog, he will stay away fro you. And if you so in love with your car, that no one can touch it, maybe you stay home in the garage with it.:jerkit:
My younger brother (and wife) can’t have kids without adopting, so his two dogs are his kids…
Anyways, Starlite has “club” nights. they reserve two lanes for whatever night and group those cars together. I remember last years mopar night, hard to forget all those poor souls with their dodges… (j/k Mopar night has a pretty strong following, there were cars who drove over 2 hrs for it) I think there is even something like a orphan night, where it is cars whose manufacturer are long gone… I think they’ve had a pittspeed night before, and saved a few rows for pittspeeders…
that was pretty bad… the majority of people would move but many just turned around, looked, and kept walking and took the absolute longest time to move out of the way. I ws tired of slipping the clutch all the time from it… geez
I’ll agree on everything but the dogs. I really hate also when people lean on the car to look inside it.
My biggest cruise peeve is the 3 million flyers people throw in the car or put under the wipers. Every time I walk away and come back I’ve got propaganda on 10 other classic car cruises when my car obviously is not a muscle car classic.
But as for the dogs… mine are my family and go everywhere with me. They don’t get to travel in the Audi, though, but if it’s a big show and I’m bringing the RV or SUV along, they are there. You won’t see them at local cruises simply because I won’t bring them in the Audi.
I love seeing dogs at shows and cruises, and I find that people with dogs generally are much nicer people. It’s the kids I have problems with… strollers and toddlers suck.
Oh, and I haven’t had a chance to read through whole thread so someone may have posted it, but Starlight did have different model/makes of cars featured like that last year, at least. Set aside a few rows for specific car makes, and it was cool.
And as for the shit/piss/run comment… My nephew drops trou and shits everywhere. My dogs do not. They are bathed about once every other day and I’d bet are cleaner and more well-behaved than most kids of the same age that I see in public. It’s all about the owner or parent, as the case may be. Kids bother me; dogs do not.
As for moving out of the way, I hate that, too, but understand based on how crowded it is. People who show up at 8pm and want to try and find a space in front deserve to wait. And if they were up front and want to leave at 8, same thing.
EDIT: My biggest peeve that I’d forgotten about (besides the flyers all over my car) is the 50’s doo-wop music blasted as loud as all get-out. Cruises these days include cars up through and including late model cars. Make the music reflect that and play it all… I can deal with any music, but not 50’s music all night.
i’m sorry but dogs are not to be compared to children. dogs are not people. they are nice to have but they are not humans or else they would be able to get into this debate on their doggy keyboards. I understand people don’t wanna have kids, can’t have kids but that doesnt mean that takes the place of children. a child is still a child and pet is still a pet. when it comes down to it, treatin a pet like a child is a piece of cake but actually raising a real child is not even close. if u have a dog for 15 years thats a long time but you’ll be raising a child for a minimum of 18 years. how many times are gonna teach your dog to ride a bike, take prom pictures, watch it graduate college…etc… yeah dogs and kids are really the same thing
and the above you just contradicted urself… you want people to accept your dog, then you have to accept that 50’s music will be played at car cruises. you can’t have it all ur way. i kinda like it, i hear the same shit on the radio all day its not bad to listen to some oldies for a few hours.
i agree car shows are not for dogs, chain wallets…keys that arent in a pocket, spike bracelets and all that other garbage. i dont have a 10k paint job or the greatest condition car but i hate kids touching it. kids just dont understand, they think its a toy and i have seen how kids take care of those. no dogs, no cainwallets or anythign thats gonna scratch paint, and people need to keep track of their kids
No biggy… I don’t think you understand what I’m saying either. My dogs don’t take the place of my children, and they are my pets. They are much more than “Nice to have”, though. They are not the same thing as humans, and I grant that. I don’t dress my dogs up and play/talk to them like they are kids. All I’m saying is that to me, and to many dog owners, they are every bit as much a part of the family as anyone else within the family. Vacation planning with pets included is a huge industry these days, and most high-end hotels allow them, knowing that many won’t go anywhere unless their pet can go, too. I spend more on dog daycare than a lot of people will for their kid’s daycare, because they mean that much to me, and places can get away with charging that, knowing people care about their dogs that much.
You don’t have to like them; they’ll still be at any place that allows them. Only true dog people will understand that, and that’s cool. And they will be better behaved than most of the kids there, including my own. And they won’t grow up to be drug addicts or quit school either. And they love unconditionaly and won’t reject me when they hit their teenage years.
As for the 50’s music, I also said I like all music, but just wish there was more variety at cruises that aren’t predominantly 50’s cars. That doesn’t mean I’ll complain to the powers that be about it, or not go to them at all. I just end up not even hearing the music about halfway through. I block it out. So, it’s not a contradiction. You’re comparing what I consider a member of my family, whether you understand that or not, to 50’s music. Not even closely related.
I hate little kid’s nasty fingers all over my car; moreso when the parents do nothing about it. I hate how terribly behaved a lot of kids are these days, and how poorly parents discipline anymore. I also hate poorly behaved dogs and am not fond of the little yappers that have Napoleon complexes. But it’s a family thing at these cruises, and both dogs and kids are allowed, so I deal with it and make the best on all accounts. As long as dogs are allowed there, I’ll accept that someone else’s yappy rat-dog is part of their family and treat it in kind. I expect them to act accordingly when their dog or their kid acts out of line. And I hope those people realize that my dogs are part of my family and will be there whenever possible as well, and I will do my part to keep my kids and my dogs in check and acting appropriately for the event.
EDIT- PS, there is a huge show at Carlisle in a few weeks (we have over 100 Audi’s alone registered), and one of the coolest things is that most people bring their dogs. All the dogs get so excited every year almost like they miss their buds that they only see once a year, too.
You don’t have to understand. And I’ll respect any place that won’t allow them. But places that do; they’ll be there.
NP, man. I get ya.
I find I do like dogs more than most people. Dogs don’t pull the shit that a lot of people will. Dogs never stab you in the back. And no matter what you do, a good dog will love you like crazy and remain loyal.
My life doesn’t revolve around them, but it is a great feeling knowing that their life revolves around me and my family.
Trust me, I’m not fond of how a lot of dogs at the cruises behave. But I blame the owners more than the dogs. Same with the kids.
This thread has a lot of good and bad points… first let me say, I totally LOVE dogs but in my opinion… it depends on the venue. If Cedercreek park is having their car show, sure bring your dogs, there is a lot of room that they will not get in the way. If its in a smaller area with just pavement like a parking lot… I really dont see a reason to bring your dog. It just leads to bad things…
The whole chain wallet and belt buckle drives me crazy. You wouldnt believe how many cars get scratched at SEMA with all the people there. Some people have no clue how much some of these cars are worth and give them no respect. I couldnt imagine someone scratching my three stage paint job on my car… id proably end up hitting them, which inturn would get me in trouble. I do agree people are not very smart at car shows.
Someone posted something saying, if you car is so nice it cannot be touched then leave it at home in the garage… I think thats bullshit right there… I believe if you feel your car is worth X amount of dollars then it would be a smart investment to get a set of ropes and rope it off. Problem solved.
I said that, and I do agree. If you have 10G into a paint job you have the cash for some poles and rope. I guess my point would have been better made if I added that.
And I too hate all of the 50’s music. Mix it up a little, it doesn’t all have to be 50’s does it?
thats DJ ray…he does like every cruise i go to on regular basis. he plays some really gay stuff sometimes… i dont mind listening to the beach boys 409 and shit like that. he should play songs about cars and summer and shit. he did thou play the dukes theme last night when two General lees pulled on.
Dead on. I doubt I’d ever bring my dogs to Starlite. Too much sensory overload for them. But a laid-back cruise or one where I and my dogs know most of the people/dogs around them… they are there.
Same with the kids, in my opinion.
As for the ropes, for me and my car it’s a bit too pretentious to throw ropes around a car that isn’t even a classic yet, or has the minor daily-driver imperfections on it anyhow. But I cringe any time I see someone venture near who doesn’t “seem” like they respect the work put in to a car, regardless of what kind it is.
I have to remind my own wife to not let her purse hang when she’s looking at a car. Too many times she leans over and I have visions of her purse buckle scraping against someone’s nice ride. And she knows better.
Sometimes people just don’t think. Like my buddy who will come over to the house and lean on my car in the driveway while he’s out there talking to me like it’s no big deal.
Sometimes I think I’m too OCD with that, but I do cross my fingers any time I’m at a cruise that no one does something stupid near my car.
