Car wont Start (sr20det)

For the past 2 months I have had an exhaust leak between my exhaust manifold and the turbo. I removed the hotpipe, and tightened those 4 bolts, when for a drive and smoke was coming from where i tightened, and the car was stuttering and stalling. So I pull it in the driveway, and I shut it off. I notice that the FMIC PIPING CAME OFF from the hotpipe. Since then I havnt been able to start the car up. So I went along and replaced the gaskets. The car continues not to start up. There is fuel/spark and the engine turns, but wont go. Now what im thinking is that its severly flooded because the Throttle boddy was getting no source of air when the hotpipe came loose. The engine also sounds like its about to start every so often. What should I do, this is pissing me off.

To start a flooded car just hold the gas ALL the way down while starting.
Keep it floored while cranking until it starts to start then let off.

The computer realizes what’s going on when you fully depress the throttle while cranking.

Hmm ive tried that numerous times and nothing. Im gonna pull out the spark plugs and place rags inside and crank till all the gas is absorbed/evaporated. Any other solutions/causes? Thanks

I dunno if sticking rags in the holes is a good idea… leaving the sparkplugs out is probably good enough but don’t forget to disconnect the coil…

For the hell of it check your MAF to make sure it’s plugged in and didn’t get knocked when the hot pipe popped off…

Check the oil… seriously, if it’s severly flooded there will be more than there should be and it will stink of gas. Change the oil if it’s like this otherwise you’ll damage the bearings.

I’ve found that a new set of plugs works better than anything for a severly flooded engine.

When you do pull the plugs crank it with the fuel pump relay or fuse removed and the igniter disconnected.

I’ll sometime stick a blow torch down the plug holes to burn the excess gas. NOT RECOMMENEDED for beginners, can cause quite an explosion, and if you haven’t changed the oil, you can literally explode the entire motor… like I said, NOT RECOMMENDED!

If it won’t start with new plugs then you have bigger problems.

By disconnect the oil, you mean?

No… the COIL so it doesn’t sit there sparking high voltage all over the place while you’re evacuating the gas

Cause gas + spark == BOOM

Oh sorry bud, thanks.

Thanks guys, got it running. It was just severly flooded. Did what you told me to do tho, hehe. 8)
