Carbon Fiber Interior

i wouldnt mind a cf glove compartment the door

does yours have the carpet on the door too? the one i was able to pick up does… it’s no problem at all for me, i’m just gonna sand it off so i can rub the mold release wax on the plastic before using it as a mold, but i’m wondering if you would have to rip your carpet off too… i would say yes, you should rip it off if you have it, because when i mold stuff off the stock parts, you end up with a perfectly flush fitting overlay, and the snugger the fit, the smaller the chance that anyone will ever notice that it’s just an overlay…

since a lot of you guys are local, what i can also do is meet with you and grab the parts you want done, and i can sand them down and laminate the carbon fiber directly on them, so that when you get them back all you have to do is bolt them back in and start enjoying them… that way you have a permanent hold and the closest possible resemblance of full composite parts (it’s nearly impossible to make 100% carbon fiber interior parts, because most of them use complicated mounting clips which cant be duplicated)

oh, i noticed that another manufacturer on here doesnt clearcoat his parts, so figured i’d also add that all of our parts are clearcoated, and then sanded again with 1500 grit and then polished, for a flawless look… you NEED to have either gelcoat, or clearcoat as the top coat of your carbon fiber parts, because it’s that coating that gives your parts the UV protection they need so they dont fade or yellow… some epoxy resins are UV stable, but they offer only minimal protection, because the more UV stabilizers they use, the less clear the epoxy gets…

guys, i updated the main page, the S13 section (including S13 packages) and the monthly specials on the website… I added discounted pricing on the arm rest and center dash for this month, as well as a bunch of packages under the S13 section, so please check them out if you have some time :E

i have called and left emails but still no reply … i just talk to that guy you did the red chrysler neon carbon fiber trunk for he told me what i cost and im interested in doing my s14 trunk and other parts

yeah sorry, i’m usually either in the garage working or running around town so i’m pretty bad at actually being around when people call…

the very best way to get in touch with me is to add me to your msn messenger (georged_83@hotmail.com), or email me directly on the work email george@alliedcomposites.com . You can also carbon copy the same message you send me to Spencer, at spencer@alliedcomposites.com, and whichever one of us gets it first, can reply to you right away. I’ve been training Spencer and he’s been doing cf work with me for a couple months already, so he’s up to date with all of our stuff.

i did just finish replying to all the emails i received on both accounts, and since my family flew out of town yeasterday, i should be able to go back to replying to all the messages i receive within 24 hours.

Thanks to everyone that’s already contacted us, if there’s anything i missed when i responded to you, please just get back to me and we can go into as much detail as you need 8)

George

can you be a little more specific please? i’m a nissan newb  :E

yeah that’s me… i really haven’t been able to handle the workload from beyond people before when i was just learning, and getting this set up, but now that i got Spencer working with me, i’ll finally be able to help all those folks out, so i’ll be back to posting there all the time real soon

oh really, that’s your car?? tight man! how did they come out? they just asked me to relaminate them, and they did the finishing work (sanding, clearing, polishing)… did they sand them down properly, and clear them up nicely and all that?? how much did they charge you if you dont mind me asking…

i think they looked way better compared to the dull look the resin had before… what do you think? i have some pictures of them epoxied, but never saw them finished

in case some of you dont know what we’re talking about… the rear splitter i re-laminated for him, before sanding/clearcoating

The parts turned out better than expected. They quoted me $230 for the repairs and stuck to the price even though it took more than they expected.

I haven’t mounted the parts, I couldn’t convince myself to cut up my '72 510, so I bought another one to use the parts on. I hope to mount the flares to it in the week. I will be posting pics and more info of that car later.

Trevor.

awesome! happy customers always make my day :E

can you be a little more specific please? i’m a nissan newb  :E[/quote]

a 3 din is just a flat peice of cf that is the size of 3 cd decks connected, it is just a piece to put in the center console for a custom console design, and the center colde peice is the one that surrounds it just like on a silvia

http://gtrcanada.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20178

here is a picture its about half way down

this?

do you just need a flat plate, or does it have to be curved a bit? i can probably make it even better by laminating the cf over your center console, being careful for it to come out flat over the dips of course, so that you dont need to bolt it in around the edges and what not… and then we can still cut out whatever holes you need in them for whatever gear you have :E still, it looks very easily doable

you said that trunk weighs 2lbs … hahahahahahahahaha that trunk on that neon is so heavy i meet that guy at a car show the trunk couldnt even stay up all it is is a real carbon fiber over lay then a clear coat over top

no no… if i made a RACE trunk it would weigh like 3-4lbs… the one i did for Bryan is just a trunk lamination 8) and it was heavy coz of the wing… when i had the wing on my trunk the trunk would hardly pop open, without it swings right up… the carbon and resin adds less than a pound

oh and i havent even finished bryan’s he has my old crappy ones till i do… when they’re ready you’ll notice a big difference 8)

o no flat is fine, i jsut need a customs dash and i just would like a center console if you would like it

you’re Tim right? yeah, doing a custom dash piece would be a cool project, and the center piece should be no problem, especially if it only needs to be flat… if you actually want that quickly, or just want it first so you can check out the quality and what not before committing to a bigger project, you can just give me the dimensions and i can make it for you…

i’m finishing up a custom amp plate for the A4 guy i made the sub woofer box for, so gimme a few minutes and i can post up some pictures so you can see how thick it is and all that.

I’m going to the border probably on friday to pick up a roll of cf and some supplies, so if you or anyone else in lethbridge or down south would like to meet up, i’d be down for it… i dont know, if it’s to give me some parts, or check out some of the small cf stuff i got on my car, or just to say hi, i dont really care 8)

on a separate note, i added a new small section on the main web page, with a link to all the specialty fabrics that i can bring in… For the most part, it would cost about the same to make you the stuff into any of those colors or fabrics as it would out of cf, as long as you order at least around $200 worth of stuff… but get a hold of me first please, because depending on popularity i might start stocking some of them, like the red/black hybrid stuff, that a lot of people seem to like.

here’s the link

http://alliedcomposites.com/george/website/fibers.html

here’s a pic of that amp plate… it’s not finished, but you get the idea… 5 layers of 14oz fiberglass, 1 layer of 6oz cf. It’s pretty strong 8)

i am laminating a local’s lower lip hopefully this weekend, and i’m wondering if anyone else is interested? i will make a mold off his fiberglass piece so i can make some more if you guys wanted, in fg or cf… from what i understand you need to have that lip, but figured i’d let you know…
