Carbon fiber rims with crash test pics attached

From another forum, off an nsx forum, thought I’d share… does this define JDM balla?

This is the wheel involved in a accident at 110mph into the wall at Laguna Seca racetrack… it was on a Porsche GT3 (2005)… the inner barrel was crushed by the suspension but it still held air… the magnesium face smashed but still stayed on and the carbon fiber barrel held up better than the mag. face… The car was totaled but it is proof that the wheel will NOT “explode” or do anything crazy like that… I am still waiting for my set and will keep everyone posted

these rims are sweet!

thats crazy… how much do those things cost?

Probably… A LOT… But worth it to get them IMHO. Those are Pure Sex.

i think they’re almost $2000 cdn each rim

If i was a millionaire…

They need this in deep dish now.
I wonder why they didn’t make the whole thing Carbon Fibre. Is it because of heat dissippation of the brakes? Carbon Fibre doesn’t conduct heat but Magnesium does?
