Realisticly, what’s the cut off here? Original Msrp? Rarity? I mean, newman paid a few hundred dollars for his e30 shell and I’d rather look at that then a bone stock Ferrari or something. The snobbishness/ exclusivity thing for a parking lot get together really bothers me.

There was no snobby behavior that I noticed in person. I think the point of it is to keep it the quality atmosphere that it was. Not striving to get attention by actin a fool like the Lancaster Speedway meets. People with nice things tend to be more responsible and I can’t blame anyone for not wanting Joe Hoopty and his family of 12 to throw open their doors in to his well maintained and cared for vehicle.

I understand that my post was vague, however I don’t wish to single any cars, brands, or people out. This event is an all make event, which means just that, however it does not mean all cars. In my statement, I said several cars were questionable, I did not say that I am excluding cars, nor am I making this an elitist gathering either. The cars in reference were unclean, poorly maintained, unkept, and overall not quality vehicles. This goes for all cars. If a Porsche or Lotus was to attend in the same manner, I would hold them to these same standards.

I started this event with the idea in mind that it would be a gathering of higher end automobiles, that you don’t normally see, and they would have an event that actually focused on them, however all Quality vehicles are welcome. There is a difference between quality, and not quality and everyone knows that. If anyone has a problem with a clean, well maintained, quality vehicle parked next to them, then this isn’t the event for them. The whole purpose is to meet, and interact with owners and cars you normally wouldn’t get a chance to. I welcome all quality vehicles to Cars and Coffee, and if your car isn’t quite ready to be in the center of the action, please be respectful and spectate for a show or two until it’s ready to go. I’m not asking for concours level cars, however I think we all can agree that this is an event for quality automobiles. That is what separates it from the Cruise nights, and the amateur hour.

As far as the organization and parking aspect that has been touched upon several times, I cannot do anymore organizing than I am doing right now, or else the social gathering, becomes a car show, and I become responsible. The liability of your actions, becomes my problem. I can’t tell you where to park, and I can’t section off parking for one make or type vehicle because it is now a formal, organized event. I would love to believe me, I’m a photographer myself and lining up all the Porsches, or all the M cars has crossed my mind many times, I simply cannot accept the risk that comes along with it. To hold a car show in Orchard Park, as well hold the event in the plaza we currently meet in, I would need permits, insurance, and the consent of all parties affected. As it is right now, I have the blessing from Orchard Fresh, and the various other companies in the plaza that we can meet there once a month, provided we leave parking spaces available for their patrons, and no one acts like an idiot and does a burn out, or leaves the parking lot filled with garbage. I will commend the attendees so far, everyone has been very respectful of the space, and of each other. That is all I ask for, be respectful of the people, the cars, and the space. We are in Orchard Park, which means that 1 burnout, and Cars and Coffee would be over.

I hope this clears some things up, I apologize for any confusion. With the first event having nearly 200 cars, the event could get of hand very quickly. It is a brand new season, I just wanted to reset the focus, and make sure everyone was on the same page.

With that being said, there will be a lunch drive after the May Cars and Coffee, details will be sent out in the email before the event. Orchard fresh will be preparing fresh breakfast sandwhiches and omelets next month as well the donuts and coffee.

Emails have gone out for the May 17th event. I’ve added the lunch drive afterwards, around 11:15. Cars will line up and leave in a pack heading south towards Springville to Rayzor’s Dawg House (Rob Rays place).
