I’m rebuilding my fiancee’s 2006 crown victoria, which will net me a total of less then $2500. I will probably drive that into the ground and keep the M3 and C5 in the garage of my 200+K house which I’ll be buying in the next few months.
I just don’t care about a daily I guess.
I spent more on my fiancee’s car then the M3 and Crown combined. The price of my fiancee’s truck was actually only $3500 less then what I paid for the corvette.
Once I’m done with the crown victoria, it will be cheaper then the heads on the corvette! LoL
Once I buy the fiancee a new truck in ~2-3 years that truck’s price will be higher then the price of the Colorado+M3+Crown+C5.
hmm, interesting. Chrysler is now willing to match cash for clunkers if you buy one of their cars and trucks. $9000 off for people who are eligible, plus whatever you can haggle out of the dealer, is getting into serious deal range.
one thing i haven’t been able to find an answer to is if you owned a truck, can you use the rebate towards a car or does it have to be a truck/suv again?
My uncle is going to be pissed. He was going to trade in his 7-year old Mountaineer since the transmission is going and the brake pedal just went to the floor among many other things. Big surprise that he wasn’t going with another Ford product.
Makes me wonder overall what good C4C really is, if the program’s suspended after only 22.7k cars are purchased with it. I mean, the market’s down 7 Million cars/year from two years ago.
It’s not out of money, the Gov just can’t process it fast enough and now has a backlog so big that if they processed all the transactions already waiting that it could use up all of the allocated money.
I heard the average rebate they’ve been processing so far is around $4200. Multiply that out by 22,700, and you get about $95.3M, or about 10% of the allocated funds. Now not all $1B will get spent on the rebates, as “administrative costs” have to be taken out - including payments to dealers to disable the cars, etc.
Therefore, the ultimate boost to the auto market would be approximately 230k cars - again, nice, but not enough of a dent in a market that’s lost 30 times that in sales volume over the past year.
We where trying to process deals all day today…the server for this is super slow so i think its just down for awhile to revise the servers…Also we had to destroy the drivetrains in the cars coming in…Its super funny watching the motors seize in all these cars by draining the oil and then putting in liquid glass haha
This program sucks. There is so much red tape, a lot of people aren’t qualifying. Either way, Chuck is right. It’s awesome watching the Clunker Bomb work.
Not to mention the empty Gambino lot we have next door has turned into a race track. :snky:
I went to go get a 2009 Crv ex-l with navi today and they didnt have black on black so I thought I would go out tomorrow and get one from somewhere else, when I got home I found out it was suspended. WTF. I guess the gov. might throw out another 4billion though so we will see.
I’ll admit I’m shocked how many people used it. Though when they originally pitched it none of us considered that Chrysler would jump in and DOUBLE the clunker cash. Everyone I’ve personally heard of locally who’s done this (4 people) all went Chrysler. It will be interesting to see what the numbers look like when the government finally catches up.
