Castrol Raceway Road Course

I know that this has been discussed on a few different forums and threads as rumour and speculation.

On the castrol raceway site itself under facilities it says, “2.7km road course (under construction).http://www.castrolraceway.com/overview.asp

Of course just because it is on their web site certainly doesn’t mean it will ever get done but at least we know that if it is on their own web site they may have an inkling of doing it and the hope/intention/plan by the actual facility owner exists and it is not just in all of our heads.

Dear God, that would be so cool.

That certainly makes the outlook more optimistic. Hopefully they have it done within a year or two. We enthusiasts need a place to go let our cars stretch their legs.

B-Wurm

I hope it’s nice and curvy.

with hills… and curves… like Nur… hehehe…

I was talking with some guys who head out there from time to time and they seemed to think the new sponorship money had removed the final barrier to actually making this happen.

Not sure what the timeline is, but, wahooo! :E

Dan

Thats what the problem was always about. Money. They never could get enough cash to get that thing going. There were a number a guys in the city willing to fork over some money (in the millions), but it still wasn’t enough to put them over the ‘hump’.

And its a road course, of course its curvy.

I always love a little alliteration! Even if it’s a bit coarse.

Dan

Thats not alliteration. :stuck_out_tongue: It’s a literary tool, with a certain name but I forget it… Alliteration is repeating consanants.

Cash needed for curvy course construction. Thats alliteration.

OK. Grammar lesson is over now!

I really really hope its built soon!

You too, huh?

Yes. The recurring hard ‘c’ at the beginning of course, course, and curvy is the alliteration element. It’s a bit spread out, or coarse.

Nice tight alliteration too! (I feel like the Count!)

Almost over… :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: I think you’re alluding to polyptonon.
I’m sorry to have sort of spoiled the original element with a pun. Kinda cheapens the whole thing!

Hear Hear!

Dan

It’s about time Edmonton area gets a proper road course (unless you actually like stratotech’s narrow bike-designed track).

Polyptonon! Thats what the one! I was going to say epistrophe but thats not right. Never thought I would hear these terms outside rhetoric classes!

The course the rally club uses, is it the “road course” sans pavement?

Just part of the NECC quest for excellence. Or something. :? >>>>> :drinkers:

Dunno on the rally course. The guys I was talking to were talking several millions of bucks worth of construction, so I’m thinking it’ll be pretty top drawer.

Cheers,
Dan

Nice. It’s about damn time, says I!

Cool link! Do you know how to tell what date the image was acquired?

It’s at least a year old. The drift pad hasn’t been put in yet. But you can clearly see the outline of the track alongside the 1/4 strip, who knows how much progess has been made since.

B-Wurm

That area WAS there. I’m pretty sure it is no longer set out like that. I feel this is far older than 1 year. More like 3. Just my opinion.
