I had not planned on doing much to the car this winter but boredom, good deals, and some motivation have bit me in the ass and now i’m in pretty deep. Below are some pics of the progress i’ve been making the past few weeks on the car and also here is a list of what will be changed for this upcoming season. With the new turbo mani I’ll be fabbing a new downpipe, upper charge pipe, and dump tube for the car. All questions and comments are always welcome
Upgrades/Projects:
-Bosch 1000cc saturated injectors
-Custom made tubular turbo manifold… none available for Cavy’s
-New 3" downpipe to mate to new manifold
-New upper charge pipe
-New open dump tube
-LS1 75mm throttle body conversion
-Devilsown Alky Injection Kit
-Custom PCV setup
-New water pump (old one went bad… stupid GM design)
-Synapse BOV
-Greddy profec b spec II boost controller
I might be missing some stuff but I’ll add to this if I can remember it
It’s a t60-1 .82a/r turbo. I ran 750cc injectors last season on the car and at 28psi was seeing between 110-115% duty cycle with a 12.0afr. My 750’s were also low imp injectors and the new Bosch’s are high impedance so no more resistors to make them work and these are supposed to idle and be much more tuner friendly
The motor is completely built with extensive block work. It is bored and stroked out to a 2.6L, forged internals, oil pump conversion, oil galley porting, built head and extensive head porting, and a whole lot of other shit I just can’t think of right now LOL.
Just by overworking the injectors… good injectors can pull this off for a bit but there is still a chance of having them clip on you damaging them.
I’m looking to push the car harder this season so I knew bigger injectors would definately be necessary. The car is tuned via HPTuners… in all honestly it should probably have a stand alone now but I just can’t justify it…
So the injector opens farther to allow greater flow then.
The 110% is just a bs term that does not allow for additional injector capacity?
As in getting 475cc from a 440cc injector?
edit: now i’m confused
I know I use flow controllers that can operate at 110% of rated spec.
Is it the same deal?
Yes you can push most injectors harder than their normal operating range calls for but I personally dont like to go much above a 90% duty cycle on a regular basis as you’re just overworking the injectors which can cause failure.
Haha thanks man, and no worries I get that alot, I know it’s a Cavy and the stigma they carry with them. I just wanted to build something different and sneaky though
100% open is 100% open. For duty cycle, its the lower term that becomes incorrect. as in, 100% open for 110% of the time.
But, the denominator is fixed to intake valves timing.
Much appreciated guys, the car will be heading to New Era in the spring to have the tune cleaned up and get some numbers… I’ll definately be sure to post the updates.
