So im just about finished rebuilding and port and polishing my head. Last thing i need to do is change the valve seals. Problem is, I can’t seem to get the old ones off properly. I tried just pulling them out of the valve guides but they just tear apart into little pieces and I cant get the remainder of them out of the valve guide. If anyone has done this and knows of an easier way to get them out in one piece (at this point im sitting there for a fukking long time with an exacto and wire brush) please let me know.
IN the guide? They should be OVER the guide. Pliers can work but be carefull not to damage things. You can also make a little tool that goes over the seal, then you tighten around the seal and pull up… I would have to draw a pic. I have never had a problem with seal to be honest.
One thing to remember: when you put the valves back in you NEED to put a “condom” over the end of the valve stem so you don’t damage the seal. It can be done without one but it is VERY easy to screw up the seal and then you get to buy another set.
