Cheap way to ship heavy package

So come June I have a cylinder head coming to me from Tennessee. Along with a carb. Don’t know the exact weight but I’m sure it’s pretty heavy. Haven’t discussed shipping charges with the seller yet but want it to work out in both of our favors. From quotes iv done seems to be around $80/100. For a 40# package. Could weigh more or less.

I just shipped a mountain bike yesterday, CA to MA. was ~45 lbs, 54 x 29 x 8 in, $500 declared value. $126 for 4 day ground, including delivery confirmation.

edit: shipped through UPS

What carrier?

I’m gonna guess UPS. Was pretty happy with them when I shipped a large item a year ago to Texas that was probably close to 40 lbs.

Yes, UPS, sorry.

I have had great results with FedEx lately. You might be better off shipping them separately instead of 1 big box also

See I was just on the receiving end of a large FedEx package and they were a total paint to deal with. I know it required signature confirmation but just in talking with FedEx reps over the phone, made it out to be a way bigger hassle than it had to be. I know that’s just from the buyer’s perspective but still, not too thrilled with Fed Ex.

try bikeflights.com

ive shipped a bunch of weird shaped bulky stuff and its always cheapest on here.
it ships via fedex and always like 1/3 to 1/2 off normal fedex rates.

thx. Got a good deal on a Australian ford head that’s here in the states alrdy. Don’t wanna offset my deal on outrageous shipping cost.
