High shipping costs

Has anyone else noticed how high UPS/USPS have increased prices? I used to be able to ship a set of wheels and tires for <$150 now they want $300+. Any ideas to save shipping costs? I package them myself, but the base costs are nuts.

I’ve started looking into Uship or similar, any ideas?

Even Greyhound wants $300.

Fedex = $317
Fedex Freight = $500
UPS = $320
UPS Freight = $780
Usps = $320

So I made a UPS account, they dropped the price down to $240 picked up from my house.

Look in to some Freight companies for larger items. All you would have to do is palletize them.

I have also heard good things about greyhound for shipping large items.

This. Back when I needed a new motor for my bike, I shipped it on a pallet, sitting on a tire. You might have to use an address with a dock to ship to, but it can be cheaper.

Sign up on ups.com anything shipped online and paid for is cheaper. Print off the package label and bring to the ups store to drop it off. Or request a house pickup.

fedx parcel

I received a trunk via greyhound for $75 from California, as long as there is a bus depot near both ends it is a great option.

Hopefully drones bring down shipping costs :tup:

I shipped 15" x 9" wheels out once with tires to get coated for ~$65.

:lol:

Uship?

this wont really help you for shipping domestically but if you ever ship internationally, these guys are HIGHLY recommended!

I just shipped my leftover 996 decklid to japan

for a box that was 43x24x19 and weighed 35lbs i couldn’t even believe the prices when i called around to get quotes…

FedEx - $1850.00
UPS - $1780.00
DHL - $1880.00
USPS - they claim its too large to even ship

(mind you that’s air shipment)

so i was searching around to get a quote on sending it ocean freight (25 days avg time but SIGNIFIGANTLY cheaper) then i found this IPS place

they quoted me $425 for air shipment to japan with insurance plus first time shippers get a 10% discount so i ended up only paying around $380
but heres the best part…USING FEDEX!!!

WTF.

Good reference to have. Thanks

I thought about it, but that takes too long. I need these shipped out this week.

are you getting quotes shipping all 4 together?

ive had better luck sending wheels out in bundles of 2

How are you pricing it with greyhound? should be around $200 if you do 2 packages, depending on the size.

Yea I don’t see how your price is so high. I mean tire rack gets away with shipping for a little over $120. I have tons of customer shipped wheels tires and combos every day. I really don’t think they are paying 75 a wheel. Did you try taking them into the ups store and see?

SAID THAT FROM THE BEGINNING!!

Don’t forget, “The UPS Store” locations are independently owned franchises and can set their own pricing. I have gotten quotes from the UPS store that are 5x what fedex wanted. You will always get better pricing going direct to the shipper.

That also. When I ship things right from the ups Hub when leaving work it is a little cheaper. Have a Ups or FedEx warehouse near you?

Yeah I had to make an account and set it all up. Thanks!!

I’ve tried it individually, as two bundles and as a single package.

Front wheels are 26x26x12, rears are 28x28x14. Needs about 2500 in insurance which I know is jacking up the price a bit.

I just realized something…Is there a silver car in your garage up on blocks right now???
