anyone who thinks we don’t need some kind of assistance/regulation with health care costs is mental. after tips, i average about $13/hour. there’s no way in hell i can afford medical treatment of any kind. when i split my head open last winter, i ended up with a bill for $1500 for having the wound flushed out with water, super-glued shut, and a tetanus shot. i saw the doctor for about three minutes, and a nurse for about five.

i can’t afford the allergy medicine i need (Flonase) and now that Claritin is OTC, even if I had health insurance i couldn’t afford to take it daily. Those two drugs combined cost more than my car insurance! And I’ve lost my license four or five times!

And I completly agree that welfare is a fucking joke. I used to deliver pizzas in Kittanning. Theres tons of welfare leeching pieces of shit there. The one low income housing place, everyone had nice cars, big screen TV’s, computers and all taht shit, because the way the welfare laws worked, you could work 25 hours a week and still be on welfare. But they cant have more than X amt of dollars in their bank accounts or some shit like that. So they work their 25 hours a week, and since they dont have to pay any rent, or pay for food, they take the checks they from the state and the checks they get from work, and they have to blow it all cause they cant save it or they’d get kicked off welfare. I can remember working at the car wash, putting up a help wanted sign, and about 10 guys came in. On every one of their applications, it said “can only work 25 hours per week”. It needs to fucking stop. If welfare were cut off then those pieces of shit would have to go out and get real jobs. If theres no incentive for them to get off welfare, they never will. I had some people tell me that I should have went on welfare when I was living in the talon, I told them to go fuck themselves and would rather freeze my balls off sleeping in 10 degree weather than be a welfare deadbeat.
As for the p[eople that truly need it (the elderly, handicapped, whatever), they can get help from private organizations (churches, salvation army, etc.)

Imagine if I was a little older and wasnt under the rents insurance? I think my dad had to pay like $500 or some shit like that, but only because my step mothers insurance stepped up and covered what my dad’s didnt. $60,000 mother fucking dollars to sit in a bed for two nighs, and be under the knife for like 45 minutes. That would have RUINED my life for a long ass time. My g/f had to go to the ER one time about a year ago because she was having chest pains (which later proved to be anxiety caused). They saw her for less than 10 minutes. Hooked her up to an EKG, listened to her chest through a stethoscope, and she was on her way. Bill was over $600. How the fuck can you tell me thats cool?
