Chevy getting the G8? what should it get called?

True and it all comes down to the person. How much they are willing to do and what they are looking to accomplish with the vehicle. For most people the best option is to either get the GT and leave it or the GXP and leave it lol. I am just not that type of person. I was already planning on grabbing a cheaper truck or something and i really would rather have a 450rwhp sedan as a second car as opposed to say a vette. I have issues. :frowning:

or get a 600hp 1200ftlbs diesel ram and pwn ?

or a bolt-on gsr?

LS3 is the future performance motor, get the GXP and add more power as you see fit and be guaranteed to be able to use any of the Camaro aftermarket engine stuff. Thereā€™s a lot done to the LS3 block alone:

Caddy and GMC G8?

With Pontiacā€™s death official, Holden stands to lose around $1 billion annually with the demise of the Pontiac G8. However, Holden doesnā€™t plan to go quiet into night. The Aussie automaker has drawn up plans to offer the rear-wheel drive Commodore platform to Cadillac and GMC.

Although GMā€™s CEO, Fritz Henderson, has confirmed that the G8 wonā€™t live on, thereā€™s a chance it could be used by law enforcement in the States, and with Cadillacā€™s recent attempts to inject more RWD models (save the Epsilon II-based sub-CTS), the Zeta architecture could be used for a new line of Caddies.

More interestingly, with GMC safe ā€“ for now ā€“ from sharing a grave with Pontiac (not to mention the inevitable liquidation of Hummer, Saab and Saturn), Holden could make a case for importing the stillborn G8 ST 'ute to the U.S. as a fuel-efficient alternative to GMCā€™s otherwise big and thirsty pick-ups. Where thereā€™s a niche, GM normally likes to fill it, and while the case for the Zeta-based Cadillacs could be made ā€“ particularly as GM seeks to downsize the platform to aid its survival ā€“ the G8 STā€™s revival seems far less plausible.

If they kill the G8 and bring over this Iā€™ll light my GTO on fire, collect the insurance, and buy an M3.

i kinda like it^^^
reminds me of the old elcamino

You mean the Australian Ute is not GMC professional grade?

Yeah, that was going to be my compromise between car and truckā€¦then they killed it off.

They should re-name it the Citation :mamoru: LOL J/K

if itā€™s LS1 powered that would be fucking sick lol.
it woul be the fastest ugly thing/automobile ever

quote for future use

I hope Chevy has the sense to change that disgusting pile of shit of a bowtie logo while they are at it

I love my g8, but with poltiac going belly up they will only give me 25 on trade and i just bought the car 4 weeks ago! DAM.:meh:

^actually you would think the price, at least on lots, would go upā€¦because they have no incentive to move inventory now other than sales commission. There wont be anymore and its a supply/demand marketplace. This isnā€™t like cleaning out the old inventory of Fusion Razors.

they should put one of these on the grill instead of the bowtie

Hmmm, lets take a look shal we?

That, and a little common sense should give you your answer. Before GMā€™s pervios ā€œviability planā€ dead line of 3/31/09, Wagner had stated to drop the other in question prands but stated, that they were trimming the fat from Pontiac, leaving the G8 and Solstice for a performance niche brand to be sold through Buick and GMC dealers.

Well that date comes and goes. Obama him self tells Wagner to step. Comes out and says that GMs plan ā€œwhile good, is not enoughā€ shortly after GM changes tune on Pontiac and says it will be killed off completely and none of its models will be rebadged, even though the G8 has only been around for 2 years. Not nearly long enough for GM to recoup its ititial R&D and tooling on the car.

Pretty clear to me who made the call.
