What exactly do they do? What is an “adjustment?”
the urologist. ugh.
I’m not saying its the best snake oil out there, but it has its purposes for sure.
Think of it as restoring proper muscle memory. Adjustment & alignment are almost interchangeable verbs in this regard.
Chiropracty (i know, i know) is akin to corrective lenses for eyes… not the same life changing affect, but same approach medicinally. IMO.

I have never been but my wife goes on and off when she needs it. Normally its for 2-3 visits then shes back to normal. She went all through her pregnancy too which really helped with her back pain, cyatic (sp?)
When our daughter was just a few months old my wife happened to take her with her for her appointment. The chiro noticed throughout the appointment that she favored holding her head more to one side than the other (something we had also noticed). My wife let her adjust her and she was instantly “straight” and never favored that side again.
Friends of ours son had a more severe case of this. Im willing to bet if they had him adjusted when he was little, before his neck got “set” crooked, they could have avoided all the physical therapy, braces etc. Of course Im no doctor and this is just my hunch.

My wife and I have been going to a chiropractor for 2 years now. I was a huge sceptic about them. But my wife swore by it that it helped her. I always get pretty bad colds 2 to 3 times a year. Since I have been going, I get minimal colds. I feel like a million $$$ when I get out of the office. It’s helped my headaches, my pinched nerves in my back, arms, and legs. To me it’s worth the $25 a visit once a week.
Why is your back bad? Not all problems are fixable, sometimes the damage is already done and long term. Some treatments require one adjustment, some many.
if this is honestly true…you need to go to a different chiropractor. In the original post, i mentioned that just because one sucks or didn’t do his job properly, doesn’t mean they are all the same.
that’s the same reason why blood tests exist… people find out they have things they never had symptoms of. Oh hi! you have AIDS.
I got to the one @ Gold’s Gym in Lancaster, http://www.lancasterbee.com/news/2010-06-17/Business/Brown_Squared_Chiropractic_rounds_out_health_care_.html Rich take’s good care of me. If you’re out of shape, fat, and lazy, a rack-and-crack isn’t going to cure cancer. My hips were out of alignment and I could barely walk, he diagnosed the issue, put me on a 3x a week schedule for adjustments, and then 2x, and then 1x and then every other, and now I go once a month. He loves working on patients that are aware of their fitness levels and are working to improve them. My hip kept going out, not the femur socket, the left and right halves of my hips were shifting which is natural, but the right one would stick and lock up. Muscle memory will continue to draw it out of alignment until you adjust it and get it used to being where it should be. The “chiropractors are trying to make you dependent on them” stigma is perpetuated by people with not enough muscle tone to maintain proper posture. Sack up, and put down the Tim Horton’s XL Triple Triple and get off the couch.
But I like my Tims triple triple…
I need to get back to the back doc. I went in 04 after I pulled a few muscles in my back. After the xray he asked if I was in a car accident. I was way out of alignment. Started on a 3 a week for the first month and gradually reduced to once a week. For the first month I was really sore but once my body became used to the treatment I felt years younger. It’s amazing the range of motion you lose over the years. I felt like a kid again.
lets step this up a level… are chiropractors really doctors?
Yeah. They have doctoral degrees. They’re not MD’s though, if that’s what you’re getting at.
google it for some interesting thoughts
