Ummm… no offense intended to you, but… If you can get that car into the 12s then I must be a much worse driver than I already thought. All other things being equal (driver-wise, etc.) there’s no way that car should be as fast as my TTZ (or any other Z32 of roughly equivalent mods - eg. like Dconz’s) … and I’m not saying that to try to brag or anything. Just looking at the facts…
I will have to come up from Lethbridge to race and show
Does this mean you will be coming up here or you just wish you could?
13.8 is a REALLY great time bro! Especially for the limited mods you have and no intercooler. Once you get that intercooler installed, add a little more boost, I’d be real anxious to see what you run. Add a JWT ECU, 420 CC injectors and I think you’d have quick car.
12’s is definatly in reach man with a few more mods
Zazam , what times have you run with your Z31 so far?
Zazam , what times have you run with your Z31 so far?
I haven’t ran yet . I never once said my car was quick or would predict on what mods I have, what I would run in a 1/4 mile. Although I would never discourage someone for trying to shoot for a goal that can be accomplished with some more time and money (thus putting a link to show Matt it has been done before). I was just showing Matt that it is achievable regardless of how expensive or new ones car is like some people who may feel insecure about a car 1/3 age and cost of the z31’s, being equal quickness with some more mods
. So far every dime I’ve earned is going into my shop which at 19 years of age is a far better investment then spending it in cars IMO.
Shit wrong thread.
I never said you said anything like that, and that has nothing to do with why I asked the question.
No, but you seem to have no trouble doing that for other peoples’ cars.
Perhaps when you finally get the opportunity to go out and run, you can learn how the timing equipment actually works and how easy or hard it is for you to meet or beat your own goals with your car. And then maybe you’ll be qualified to judge other people from the backseat row of bench-racers.
And no one thought that car would even break into 15’s… it now runs 13’s…
I hate to say it and I’m going to be rude here… but come on Jason, you don’t need to cut other members. Maybe you’re jsut pissed off that your super modded and expensive Z ran a second faster than a car someone paid $2000 for on bald winter tires? I think 12’s are attainable in that car with some more minor work. It’ll be pushing it’s limits right to the edge I’m sure, IF it breaks into the 12’s. I guaranteed that car would run a 14 and with all the doubt ppl gave me… I proved them wrong. I doubted Matt thinking it could be capable of a 13 and it’s done that too…
Of course now I’m rambling… but I honestly do think with the right mods additional to what the car runs currently, it’s possible to see it dip into the 12’s. Again, I’ll believe it when I see it and I’ll cheer him and the car on even if it blows up trying… if he fails and 12’s aren’t acheived at least he tried. Isn’t that worth something?
Hold on a sec here Chris… I did not “cut” Chromedragon. When I made the comment about his car I hadn’t seen his other post about his recent 13.8 timeslip yet. I was thinking “wait a sec, how can you go from 14.6 to 12’s just like that??”. I just didn’t believe it at first and questioned the validity of a sub 13 second run on that car (in its current state of mods), that’s all. And I also now see from the posts that you guys are not talking about current state, but are in fact inferring additional future mods. That’s fair… I submit to my error.
As for Zazam, he budded into this and it had nothing to do with him. And if you look more closely at his last post, I think you can make a determination of who really intended to “cut other members”.
Come on Chris, you know me better than that… unlike some people.
P.S. My car is not “super modded”… not yet, anyway.
No, but you seem to have no trouble doing that for other peoples’ cars.
Where’s the wrong in that? I guess if I’m not boasting about my own car or down grading someone else’s then I guess I would say I was supportive of an others with potiential. I’d rather be optimistic and encourage fellow Nissan’s rather then saying “there’s no way that car should be as fast as my TTZ (or any other Z32 of roughly equivalent mods)” which is stating a “fact” although one that was already known which IMO seems kinda seems kinda silly to post.
Perhaps when you finally get the opportunity to go out and run, you can learn how the timing equipment actually works and how easy or hard it is for you to meet or beat your own goals with your car.
Absolutly! I intend too! For now all I can do is drive my car reasonable and be happy with it until I get schooling and my shop going so I don’t get caught up in spending money into something thats not going to make me money or get me a certificate of any kind.
And then maybe you’ll be qualified to judge other people from the backseat row of bench-racers.
Now thats a rather pessimistic statement :? . Maybe you should try and smile more .
My apologizes for jacking the thread  .
Look Andru, I wasn’t trying to start a fight here.
If you recall I’ve tried to back you up before (like: http://forums.780tuners.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8457 for example). I don’t know why since NECC forums started it sorta seems like you’re always ready to attack me when I’ve done nothing to you that I know of.
As I mentioned in my reply to Chris, I was late in piecing everything together and mistakenly thought people meant that car was going to see 12’s in its current state (what I was remembering as the exact same car and state that Chris ran his 14.6 in last year). Of course times will improve with practice and more mods. But you have to be realistic. 14.6 to 12’s doesn’t magically happen with no change. I have to admit I have no idea what the inclusion or omission of an intercooler does to Z31 timeslips, for example. My comment was not intended to “downgrade” Chromedragon and hopefully he understands where I was coming from.
Back to the event guys…
WHat in the…this thread exploded. Who knew making a pie in the sky prediction could cause this mess?
When I went out to the track last Friday I was being conservative and estimating maybe a 14.2-14.3. I didn’t expect that the car would break into the 13s, but after my second pass down the track netted a 14.045 I knew it was very possible. Even my best run at 13.811 left a little bit of time to be gained on the launch with some good clutch slipping, not alot, but maybe 0.1s? I should also have my transmission that has synchros left in it into the car eventually, and the ability to shift fast should give me another 0.1 or 0.2s. The car was running about 14psi of boost down the track and was causing some serious heat to build up in the engine. The uppipe was boiling 10 minutes after the car had been shut off. Just adding the intercooler should drop my intake temps drastically and allow me to run those boost levels without issue, maybe a couple psi more?
I don’t think it’s too crazy to predict knocking 0.8seconds off my et with a few mods. It may happen, it may not, but at least I’m out there trying. I plan on spending no more than $3,000 to make this car run 12s, that includes the $2,000 purchase price of the car. Everything will be done by myself and friends, and I’m going to be doing alot of custom fabbing to get it all to work. Just that fact alone will make it that much more gratifying if I do run 12s. I don’t need to run low 12s, or even mid 12s. Just like last Friday I was telling people that I would be happy to get anything in the 13s, even a 13.999. It’s all for fun out here though, I don’t like to take anything like this too seriously maybe you guys shouldn’t either?
Jason you have a pm and sorry Ty it won’t happen again

Fair enough Jason. I figured you knew he ran the 13.8 as it was and was planning on a few more mods for the car
Anyways we’ll see you out at the track and it’ll still be in good fun! WIth your “not super modded Z” hahahahahahahhaaha, lemme guess they run your times stock?
By the sounds of it the RX7 club will be out there repping pretty good so you guys have to come together and bring out the masses… I know you have some quick cars
i cant read anything about the sport compact challenge in this thread… whats going on with the actual event
Ya. Fcuk you thread jackers go and jack someone elses thread.
I think that the first post explains most of what the event is. Some of our NECC members will be racing as well as showing their cars. We can get a meeting time and place aranged and then cruise down. Where do people usually meet up to go down to Bud?
