I know exactly where you’re coming from. I’ve been on Hydrocodone since my accident in 2005. I felt and addiction so I stopped taking them cold turkey and felt like a fcking crack head. I told my Dr. he say to ween myself off DO NOT stop like that. He also perscribed me Ultram. Its weak stuff and is only as strong as something like Tylonol. So, it only takes a “bit” of the pain away. It sucks having chronic pain. I have pain almost every other day because of a herniated disc in my lower back, and now my new job isnt helping. Im going to ask my Dr. if theres a stronger Ultram “Mg” I could take (since also like you) really dont like knowing Im addicted to a drug.
Good luck man, you’re not the only one.
Cortizone shots are good, but only for periods of time. I had a cortizone shot on my throwing arm after I blew my arm out. Worked great for a few months, almost no pain, then I literally couldnt throw anymore. After some research, I found that the shot will weaken the joint, tendons, and ligaments, so this route will only make things worse in the long run.
Currently I take 500mg Naproxen, 10mg Flexeril, 50mg Tramadol, and tylenol PM before bed time.
And Avatar, its kind of hard to “man up” when pain like this gets in the way with my work. When I have to go sit down frequently because of the pain doesnt look very good on my part.
I’ve tried Ultram, that shit made me feel weird, I hated it. Dilaudid is ok but doesnt seem to last very long.
The only thing that really works for me is 80mg Oxycontin, but its so damn addicting.
