cig prices

NYS needs to start taxing fat people.

Because NYS feels it will feel the effects of smoking on the health care system…

So they dont have their residents smoke themselves to death?

I wonder where they will look for tax money once people either start quitting or stop non-reservation/duty free stores. There is only so long you can bleed people dry.

FYI: I don’t smoke.

yup both of my parents smoked and i hated the smell of them growing up but it sets something off in you if you let yourself have that first cig you get offered or steal from mom its a wrap. Like i said after highschool i quit for 5 years then when i was working a job on the west side cleaning 100 yr old dust outta ducting in a school and if you smoked you got a 10 min break pretty much every hour well fuck that started just smoking while at work and then it took off and im upto like 2 packs a day and like i said wish i could quit.

+1

Part of me would like to see them banned or taxed to death because the huge drain smoke puts on health care. All the people who don’t smoke pay for the expensive cancer treatment in our insurance premiums.

The other part of me realizes how slippery a slope that is.

Heart disease costs a lot, ban fast food? Ban salt?

Liver disease costs a lot, ban alcohol?

For as bad a movie as Demolition Man was it had an interesting take on the future.

wtf i have been drunk with you

I never saw a $300 pair of jeans hurt someone… maybe I’ve been shopping in the wrong stores  lol

How can you say that?! Stallone, Snipes, frozen in time and brought to life in the future, it was a blockbuster hit and an eternal favorite in my heart…

Actually, smoking and being obese (practically any really unhealthy behavior) is cheaper by way of healthcare, because those people don’t live long enough to suck up a lot of money. Read about it here:

I was surprised to find this out as well…kinda makes you wonder what these more socialist countries will have planned in the future to cut costs (after all, your body IS property of the state, comrade).

Doesn’t seem to address the chronic illnesses that smokers deal with.

Taco Bell will own the world.

Well, the article mentions lung cancer specifically. The point the author is trying to make is that these chronic conditions do occur in people who lead unhealthy lives, but that these conditions don’t last very long (as in lung cancer only requiring treatment for a few months or so before the patient no longer requires treatment; due to death).

My grandfather was a smoker, he never had any chronic illnesses until the last year or so of his life when he had emphysema. He was only really sick for a few weeks before he died, and before that only requiring oxygen which isn’t really all that expensive.

The wacky part is, people who do not smoke aren’t taken out by such an acute condition like lung cancer or emphysema, they live on for years as modern medical technology keeps them inches from death, go check out a retirement home.

EDIT:

Here are a couple more links on the same study with a little more technical information:

I was in PA last weekend and was reminded what it was like when people could smoke in restaurants.

<–ex smoker

Why in the world would someone start smoking NOW? Wow. lol.

LOL.

Its fucking bullshit.

RESERVATION RUNS FTW

oh yeah the res is gonna be stocking up, ill put money on NY trying once again to tax cigs at the res as soon as they relize everyone is going there

^ they cant, their own laws fuck them

Yeah no. If NYS taxes the wholesalers (the places that the rez gets their cigs from), then cigarettes on the rez go up too. DUH.
