         <b>State funding sought for kayaking blueway: a water trail among raging rivers</b>

Shooting the rapids in a kayak is a main attraction of an urban whitewater park envisioned at the confluence of two great rivers where a branch of the Mohawk sends a cascade of rapids under Ontario Street Bridge and to the Hudson.
“It’s a fantastic idea. Kayaking is very popular today,” said Ralph Pascale, who champions the proposed Capital District Canoe and Kayak Blueway Loop Trail.
Pascale, co-chairman of the Adirondack Mountain Club’s kayak section and a former Cohoes economic developer, said it’s time to push the plan for a regional recreational attraction in the Spindle City.
The city has mapped the blueway — the term for a water trail in rivers, lakes and streams — to wrap around seven islands in the two rivers and take advantage of the varying water flows.
“This is the action they’re looking for. They can’t find any better,” said Mayor George Primeau, standing on the Ontario Street Bridge talking above the roar of the rapids…

nothing like filthy mud flowing water to get people excited

I think it’s pretty neat. Kinda like urban mountain bike parks that have been popping up in various cities.
