where to go Kayaking

looking for like a creek or something. maybe something that me and a buddy can follow to the lockport locks. something that can take a 1/2 to full day to complete.

Niagara Falls? Wear helmets.
Kayaks are fun!

You can take the canal as far as you want. It’s navigable by boat from Tonawanda all the way to the Hudson. Not sure if they let kayaks through the locks or not, but you could always just pick them up and carry them around the locks.

You could also do a lap of GI. I would suggest doing the down river leg on the east river because there is no real place to hide from the current there. On the up river leg on the west river if you stay close to shore on the US side you can get out of the current for some of the trip. Fighting that current all the way would suck.

any tall flight of stairs should be fine

anyone know where to get decent maps of the canal

great valley FTW you can do it all year … its 9 miles takes about 8 hours

pic no workey  but we do this in the winter/rainy days in a old kayak i have

chestnut ridge in the rain is fun in a kayak

zoar valley…haha, just make sure the level isn’t too high. 2-2.5 feet won’t be too crazy. Still can be dangerous in spots though. I think you can make it all the way from at least arcade to the lake on cattaraugus creek.

great valley is decent. It will be too low in spots if it hasn’t rained much before you go.

oak orchard creek is good, if your coming out that far though lol

I’ve been wanting to try this, actually. How much do they rent kayaks for down there?

ill rent u one cheaper then them
