Kayaking the Niagara Gorge

I stumbled across this site while doing a quick kayak search in the other kayak thread. It’s a great read.

I’ve hiked down there tons of times but would never even consider trying to kayak those rapids. to completely insane people.

I guess there are a lot of people locally who like to kayak the rapids. I think that would take a little bit more no fucks given for me to try it.

^^nice article lol

Outside the courthouse a TV crew asked whether the $50 fine was worth it. The obvious answer was, “Hell, yes. You can blow $50 on a night in the Big Apple, but I got world-class whitewater, a James Bond style chase, and a spot on the evening news. This is America. Crime does pay.”

love it.

That was a great break from the workday!

He tells that story really well. Thanks for posting that.

ill pass lol, ive kayaked and rafted some whitewater before but thats just plain crazy right there.

Swimming in the gorge? I think this could use a little more explanation

There are plenty of “safe” spots to swim in the gorge. Just be mindful of how far out you go.

+1 The majority of times I’ve gone down there I’ve ended up in the water. You get pretty warm dealing with all those steps.

i think the pic explains it pretty well

either a 6foot or 14ish foot rock to jump off of(he’s jumping off the taller rock in the pic), into a pool of water 10 feet from the rapids… its hard to tell from the pic, as i’m 1/2 way up the gorge wall when taking it(from the trail)
