Coilovers in cold weather

Hey guys. My passenger side rear coilover started making a squeaking noise today. The car still handles good and is not leaking any oil. Is this because of the colder weather we are having (around 0 degrees)? And at what temperature should I stop using the coils? BtW, they are Tein Flex that have approximately 5000kms on them.

some people have had bad luck using their coils in the winter (lots of the D2 guys) some have been fine. its your call. personally i wouldnt wanna risk $1000+ suspension. put your stock shocks and srpings on

I run Tanabe Sustec Pros all summer and all winter… and they love every minute of it.

I simply do not beleive that a suspension component that is meant to take many g’s of force at a few thousand pounds can not withstand -20celcius. Just my personal philosophy.

Do your coilovers get noisey and overly stiff in cold weather? And you drive your car in the snow and its still that mint???!!! WTF lol.

I’m just driving my car until the end of november probably so hopefully the Teins won’t need a rebuild next season.

teins hate cold weather…ive busted two sets in my life, both under 15,000kms on them…dont ever use them in less then 0 degrees…the oil gets to thick and cracks the seals…

Brutal. Thanks for the heads up Varun.
