Community service/ giving back to the community

It’d be cool to pick a family in need, whether it’s a child with some illness, death in the family, etc.

Make an official NYSpeed Paypal donation page so we can market it across forums, make a banner, pick a date, pitch a tent, have everyone make food, get together with our cars/families.

It’d be nice to give back to the community. Especially for a great cause. And it would throw NYSpeed a bunch of great publicity.

We could do this for a Spring Kick-Off Meet or Summer BBQ

Down for this. Le’s make it happen!

I’ve been lookin for a way to volunteer too, count me in for this.

Let’s build a car and give it to a deserving someone in need.

Pimp my ride, buffalo edition?

haha Mad Mike hooked you up!

Idk how it would be done to find a deserving person, but maybe a Veteran in need or something. Come together to build a nice automobile for him. Or do like on Overhaulin’.

Straying away from community service, but its just an idea.

I was thinking more along the lines of picking a park in Buffalo that needs some cleaning up (graffiti, trash, paint, etc) and having a cook out/car meet there, and everyone helps by walking the park and cleaning up everything. We’d obviously have to get the OK from the city but I’m sure it wouldn’t be difficult.

I’m also not talking about east side ghetto shit parks. Somewhere WORTH cleaning and safe.

NYSpeed for Mayor!

This could be something really cool and postive for the community and this forum.

http://www.indiegogo.com/ would probably be the way to set up a donation page, but either way it’s a good idea.

Down! Also plenty of musicians on here to have a jam going.

I text half you dicks in this thread for the city of light every year. Im holding you all accountable for our next project!!! lol

Burnouts for Breast Cancer?

Join the boards of local organizations you’re interested in. I’m on the board of 3 LGBT organizations and an organization for individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

Be prepared to raise money for the cause, or just write a check.

I do a few annual events in Rochester each year as well for you roch guys. My sister sends me the invites(she lives there). I met a few of you guys at one for the pitty love? art show deal. I will admit outside of the B team and Friends of Night People I mostly just donate and help the chairs network to get sponsors when I can.

Text me this year I’m down.

If you or anyone else is interested I am one of the lead teachers for SABAH, teaching special needs kids/adults to ice skate. It’s every sat more oct-march. Feel free to pm me if interested and ill give ya more info. I’ve been doing it almost 20yrs

My friends and I do a golf tournament every year. In fact we are getting an award from Child Adolesant Treatment Services (CATS) in a couple weeks, we have given over $100,000. It is a lot of work but that is because it is the best golf outing in WNY by far. There is a waiting list almost every year so far.

I’ve always wanted to get involved with something like Habitat for Humanity- Give back and learn some stuff along the way. I know there are some more-local organizations out there that do similar projects. I got frustrated because several people never got back to me, and everyone seems too busy to do it with me if I were just to sign up for Habitat. So count me in for something, anything really.

I’ve always wanted to do a charity something with the forums here, but I’m very leery of most organized charity where money gets siphoned off along the way to the person or cause in need. If we ever did something I would try NOT to collect money on our end but rather work out an arrangement with the charity itself to collect the money directly. I don’t want any of it passing through our hands if a there is a middle man / men.

Donating your physical time is one of the best things you can do IMO. If you want a more passive way to help people (from all over the world) with extra money you may have, check out www.Kiva.org

We have a lot of cyclists on the forum, could create a team, raise money and ride the Tour de Cure this year. All donations are handled via the website:
