hey im gonna be doing my black top s14 install soon, wondering how bad compressor surge really is, and even with an hks bov, will i still get some surge, that sounds fairly nice on a stock t28? thanks 'i just like the sound… feel bad for the turbo " lol
surge is bad (and teh sound is ghey).
unfortunately you can’t eliminate it 100%, but you should tune the BOV to minimize it as much as possible…
your turbo will thank you for it.
koz is right, I don’t think you can completely get rid of compressor surge, I have an hks ssqv and it blows off very easily but when i let off slowly while at part throttle… i can hear a very faint compressor surge.
you want to tune the bov so that at idle it doesnt leak but also, something most overlook
make sure the bov doesn’t bleed at partial throttle. WHen this happens the car bucks and chokes and runs like shit, when lapping it can be a real problem on sweepers etc
