OK, so I got this compressor for free…
craftsman 16734 - 33 gal. 6hp etc…
apparently they never drained it while using it…
so, now it seems to only get to 40 psi in the tank after draing…
I’m fiuring i need to rebuild the pump.
maybe it took in some water?
is there any simple troubleshooting stuff to be sure w/o dissassembly?
parts are cheap for the pump, and you dont have to be a rocket surgeon to
figure it out…
i’m just lazy and i never seem to get around to fixing stuff 
probably fried the valves or rings
by not draining it, they basicly put to big of a pump on a small tank, which heats up the pump quick IIRC … due to teh fact that it kicks on way to often and never realy gets to run
prpbably DIDNT take in water, because to do so the pump would have to run in reverse to suck water back out of the tank
i was not sure how the pump would get water, unless one of the check valves
was screwed up…
it seems like a simple assembly, and should not take more than $40 worth of parts rebuild to pump.
much easier to fix than i thopught…
ring was cmopletely shot.
i could see daylight on the side of the sleeve…
$23 for the rebuild kit and it’s good as new
