looks like i blocked off the bleeder hole again on the bov, i need to come up with a better gasket setup than what i have, i’m thnking adhesive backed paper gasket is the best solution, you can’t put hardly any rtv on it or when you tighten the bolts it fills up the bleeder…
is that going to cure the oil burning on the tsi???
i dind’t notice a whole lot of the oil today but then again i couldntn get on it hard because the bov was opening too late 24psi going the opposite way through the compressor wheel isn’t a good thing.
anyone got a piece of that adhesive backed paper gasket maker they could bring tonight? doesn’t have to be that big like 4" square would be plenty…
What BOV are you running?
1g it sounds like an hks ssq when it goes off…sux
That’s probably your problem right there. My buddy Nate always had a compressor surge problem on his 1g with with a 60-1. We put a Tial on it a few weeks ago and it seemed to all go away. His crushed 1G BOV sounded like a turkey call.
you have a text message mr. meanie
nope just started this morning when i put the sealant on it
Hmm. I can’t remember exactly how the 1G DSM BOV works, but the stock SRT BOV (on the compressor housing, aaaahh, worst spot ever to reach) is a plunger type and doesn’t have any sort of sealant around it at all because it makes it’s own seal from the boost. When I put the external vent adapter on it I had to use gasket paper for that, but nothing touching the actual BOV.
there’s a bleeder holewhen you let off it allows the pressure difference (vacuum in the hole vs pressure in the pipe) to open the valve upwards…without that being open it will only open what it can from psi pressure…well i aparently only plugged half the hole as it is opening but not fast enough.
http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo_bov_mod.html goes over it a bit
Do you have the modification done to yours?? Looks like it would work well.
We put the MAF translator on w/ the Tial at the same time, since it has to vent to atmosphere. It seems to work very nicely.
