Computer Gurus

Where can I check on my laptop to tell if it has a 32 or 64 bit version of operating system?

Thanks

what OS do you have?

vista, what im trying to figure out is if im gonna need to pick up another laptop to be able to run hondata s300 with my new setup in my hatch. I searched the hondata forum and from their experiences s300 works with the 32 bit version but they have trouble with the 64 bit

How new is your laptop? Chances are if it came with vista its a x64.

well from what i saw on other forums is that 85% of new computers come with 32 bit and only higher end computers have the 64 bit,

As far as I know you need special drivers and apps made for 64 bit, so chances are you’d know it if you were running 64.

is there anywhere I can go on my computer that will tell me? like a system overview?

pcpitstop.com…takes a minute but it will give you an array of information…including your processor type & speed

so just go there and it should be self explanatory from there?

go to the command line and try winver and google the build number

yea just look on the left hand bar and click full test…new member, and test anonymously so that you don’t have to make an account…it’ll test everything from disk speed to overall sys performance…and find some things that may be wrong that you never knew about and advise you to check into them

thanks

no problem

Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. If it doesn’t say 64 bit under “system”, then you’re 32 bit

In XP the stuff is branded x64:

32 bit:

Under vista it actually says 32bit:
