Tomorrow I will change the card out and see what happens.
that card u have is pci EXPRESS correct? if so u have to make sure thats plugged into the pci express slot, idunno if it would work at all or not in a standard pci slot, but yeah u might wanna check up on that.
it wont work on a regular pci slot, they are different all together
k cool, wasnt sure
Definately in the PCI E slot. It won’t even fit in the others.
I think I might call leadtek tonight and see if they CS can help me Diagnose the issues I am having.
Something else worth mentioning I think is when it was acting up last night the screen would go blank for a second and then everything would pop back up as it was before. So thereafter it froze though.
thats wierd, let us know wat they say bout it
Just checked the instructions. No Customer Service number!!!
They have an email address but that seems pointless and slow.
I should just send them the link to this thread and the one on Anandtech that I have going.
UPDATE:
Well I checked the RAM once before but I figured at this point I am desperate so I’ll check it again. Plus last time I did, I was having the difficulty with the USB compatibility. So I took out the second stick of RAM and the system seems to be working perfectly now. I have been playing Far Cry (still lower graphics settings) for the past hour or so with out even a stutter. I didn’t try the stick that I pulled out on its own running the system but common sense would dictate that it was bad.
However, I wonder if its possible that I had trouble from running 2 sticks of RAM. I remember way back I put new RAM in a shit computer I had but it was mismatched 64mb and 128mb. Everything else was the same i.e. PC100. The computer would not run for shit though. This was back with the old AMD K8.
I will have to try that second stick tomorrow to see what happens but it would seem that it was the foul piece of the puzzle…I hope.
Ok I tried quickly this morning to see what would happen with just the second stick of RAM in the computer. Everything works just fine. So I pop both back in and play Far Cry. FREEZE.
Bad motherboard maybe? Wrong RAM settings?
Might wanna check that out.
Are you talking about putting them in the correct slots? They are in the write slots. There are 2 green and 2 purple or some color like that. The two sticks are in the Green slots right now.
Looks as though I won’t need to borrow your video card. But thank you very much for the offer.
ok cool, so wats the update???
Look a few posts up.
Basically the computer works perfectly with 1 stick of RAM, 2 sticks and things totally get f’d up.
I tried both sticks individually and they worked fine.
I may need to adjust RAM settings in the BIOS but I have no idea what I am doing with that. Do you guys?
ahhhhh good shit. yeah i talked to my roommate about this, he knows a thing or two bout building comps and i know know a lot bout computers too. First thing he said to me was RAM. we had figured that it wasnt tho since u checked it. Glad to see u got it all figured out.
Well I wouldn’t say its all figured out. I need to find out why having both sticks in at the same time makes the computer crash.
But fortunately its been isolated to one or two things.
I just had an online dicussion with a Crucial tech and they said to put the two stick into different banks. Rather than both being in the green bank, one would be green the other would go in the purple bank. I wonder what kind of performance loss I would see as a result of this?
Either way, its new hope.
prolly better then one stick
no loss, one bank is for dual channel
i told u this last week
damn im too smart for my own good
