So Doug has a week here where he has no work lined up, so he is keeping one of his crews busy (the other has vacation) here at the house. First, demo the kitchen starting today :eek: I think we’ll have mud/primer and paint done tomorrow, maybe wall tile up too. Floor tile will be in on Friday at the warehouse, so that will go in, and countertop is being made right now, will be 2 weeks :doh: Here is the progress so far (one day, three guys, blow thru it!)

boxes are packed
dumpster arrived
demo, mudding, and new ceiling with can (recessed) lighting instead of flourescent tube blubs…

lol we’re leaving the cabinets (they gotta take them out for paint/rip up install new floor tile) not tryin to spend $5K on new ones so we can sell it! (you can get almost the same thing at Ikea for less than a grand…)
Were those Ikea cabinets? I was looking at teh Ikea ones and can’t decide if they are junk or not. I have been wanting to redo our kitchen. I’d like to save a couple bucks and match what we hae already because it is only a couple years old and in good shape… but I’m not sure I can match them. So then I was looking at the Ikea ones… Any opinions?.. anyone.

LOL Well he DOES own a construction business. It’s his THING…he was so excited to start demo, the most fun part of the process for him…ripping shit up and destroying stuff…jack hammer tomorrow for the floor… LOL.
Ikea cabinets are not SHIT but they are not GREAT either. You could get new cabinets for like $1000. Most of it is laminate, but if you take care of it, it will last. It would look a lot better than if you have an older house like this and there are painted cabinets or god forbid, metal :ugh: Our cabinets were discontinued since he got them way back when, but they have very comparable finishes for a good price, structurally they are sound and solid. It’s not like it’s solid cherry or oak, but it looks good. Good enough we aren’t replacing them to sell the house (unless the color scheme we picked out totally doesn’t match lol) Down side, you have to install it yourself. They have a vid to give you to help out, thank god I have handmen at my disposal to do so :love: LOL
Go to the show room and look at all the stuff, I’ve been there the past 2 days LOL bought a new cabinet for beside the fridge (tall one), we found a finish that will probably match, if not it’s close enough…and one for on top of the fridge, and the two of them (including feet, doors, brackets, side panel, mounting bracket…everything is ‘ala carte’ there) were $310…not bad. Custom work would have cost us upwards of $3500. For two cabinets…
Local def for sure, but outta Alleghney Co for sure. Taxes here sucks. Besides our neighborhood, which WAS nice back in the day, is goin to shit, city moving in (Wilkins twp is where we live) which sucks b/c father in law is tax collector for the past 28 years and doug’s gpa was cheif of police for 20 years, so we have lifetime get out of jail free cards here with mention of last name…haha.
Lookin for land in Peter’s twp according to him (good school district and in westmoreland co. again, according to him), or murrysville, hell we could end up anywhere, as long as it’s close to the city (ie don’t have to drive an hour to get groceries) and not in the boondocks. I don’t care, have no clue, I am not from here LOL Just get me some land and build me a bigger house!!! :bigthumb:
move to wv… cheaper taxes and bigger houses cheap … i live in oh and i can be in robinson in 30 - 45 mins…so not too bad… either way something to look at
