Continental Warrantee Company

first off, i kno Justin (01AudiS4) has had a good experience with this company, ahd ne recomended them to me, but my experience was not so great.

i requested a QUOTE from them online, and they called me today to give it to me. among other things, the guy i was talking to accused me of odometer fraud, because he refused to believe me that my 8 (almost 9) year old truck has 60,120 miles on it. after several attempts to sell me on the warrantee today i sternly said that, “i requested a quote, and its all i want. i have no intentions of purchasing a warrantee TODAY. as a matter of fact, i i wont even be looking to start coverage for a t least a few months. I just want the quote I requested”

so, the following conversation then ensued:

him: ‘what is the reason that you dont want to take advantage of this one time only offer?’

me: 'well, i think its kinda stupid to be wasting 6 months of a new warrantee when my truck is just sitting in a garage for the next 6 months

him: ‘o well thats all the more reason for you to star now. because its just sitting, your head gaskets are going dry up and you will sieze your motor. according to JD Power and Associates, thats the most common breakdown problem among all cars in america’

me: ‘thats the most rediculous thing ive ever heard, im sorry’

him: ‘well how do you know that?’

me: ‘i kno more about cars, and my truck in particular than you think. i’ve rebuilt several engines, and know that the statement that you just made is probaly not only a lie, its so far removed from anything logical, its not even funny’

him: ‘well, im sure you probably know a lot about cars, you’ve probably been around older cares a lot more than me, but these new cars are totally different. you sound about 30-35?’

me: 'im 19" him: ‘o. well, who are you going to trust then, JD Power Associates, or what you know’

me: what i kno, because i kno what you’re trying to tell me is a completel laod of bullshit. dont try to pull that on me, because your jsut trying to scare me into thinking something bad is going to happen to my truck so that i’ll but this warrantee so you can get your comission. im not buying it. now, are you going to give me a price quote, which is all i want, or not?’

him: ‘well, unless you buy today, we will not accept you into the prgram at all. we dont accept repeat customers…blah blah blah’

so, i now have the following opinions:

  1. he does have a point: im sure my head gaskets could deteriorate from a car being stored…for maybe 10 or 20 years. i really dont think 6 months of it just being parked in my garage is really going to do too much harm.

  2. what they’re implying, is that unless you dont buy the warrantee right then and there, they will not accept you at any other time. ever. doesnt that defeat the purpose of a free quote? isnt a quote an estimate of the cost of services, with no binding contract to accept those services or pay a penalty? if they’re advertising a free quote on thier website, and then call you with the quote but explainto you that if you do not accept the terms of the quote and enter into a contractual agreement with them right then and there, then you will not be eliegible for ANY services of thiers EVER again, isnt that false advertising?

wow … that guys an ignorant fuck

head gaskets are FAR from the most common break down … and ive never heard of them “drying out”

so did he give you a quote?

I think this guy is full of shit and is just trying to scare you into buying the program they are offering. I would call back (if he didn’t give you a quote) and request a quote but make it clear that you just want a estamate of cost of services like you said. if he gives you any shit demand to speak with his superior and explain how he is making up shit and using “scare tactics” to try and sell you something you don’t know if you want. maybe if you bitch up a storm they wil discount the price. then you can pound the shit out of your truck and make them pay out the ass.

edit: headgaskets don’t “dry out”

cooincedence that 2 months after i took my truck out of storage from last winter, i blew my motor due to head gasket problems? i doubt it, because i have proof that my problems went back to the truck being abused and neglected, then not serviced right…2 times.

I’d be worried if somehow the gasket absorbed anything for that matter. Guy is full of shit trying to make a sale by preying on those that don’t know squat about cars.

Chances are it was a call center you reached unless it was a local place. If it’s not local you probably won’t ever speak to that person again.

no no… u give them your name, phone number, vehicle make and model, and that call YOU

Trying to find a get out of jail free card for your transmission eh?..

You call this a good experience?

You’re trying to buy a warranty for a 9 year old pickup that’s already had the motor rebuilt twice? Plus you’re going to be modding it, which last I checked immediately voids warranties. Good luck collecting on any claim ever.

Don’t do it. If you don’t want to have to worry about paying for repairs, get a new car not an old pickup.

Spiffy, but that doesn’t change the fact that unless it’s local it was more than likely a call-center.

transmission ? what transmission? :snky:

im more concerned with with the fact that little shit is gonna start breaking, like window regulartors, wheel bearings, alternarotr, water pump, etc. the transmission i want probably wouldnt even be covered under the replacement parts qualifications of the warrantee anyway. im not all that concerend about major stuff like the engine. im more worried about stuff thats gonna start nickel and diming me to death.

and from talking to Justin, he seemed very satisfied with the warrantee company after the work was done. im not going to speak for him, but if i remember correctly, it was the shop that he originally took the car to that was the problem, not the warrantee company.

:word: That guy was an asshole. And as far as that go’s, so was the guy I bought my warranty from. But it makes you feel better in the end when you make them pay twice what you paid them 1 day after your warranty go’s into effect (2 new turbo’s). And soon the will have to pay more and more Audi repair bills. I <3 Continental Warranty.

yea but when ur the service company putting in a claim to them there fucking prick i hate that place no as much as ge capital. i heart guardian
