first off, i kno Justin (01AudiS4) has had a good experience with this company, ahd ne recomended them to me, but my experience was not so great.
i requested a QUOTE from them online, and they called me today to give it to me. among other things, the guy i was talking to accused me of odometer fraud, because he refused to believe me that my 8 (almost 9) year old truck has 60,120 miles on it. after several attempts to sell me on the warrantee today i sternly said that, “i requested a quote, and its all i want. i have no intentions of purchasing a warrantee TODAY. as a matter of fact, i i wont even be looking to start coverage for a t least a few months. I just want the quote I requested”
so, the following conversation then ensued:
him: ‘what is the reason that you dont want to take advantage of this one time only offer?’
me: 'well, i think its kinda stupid to be wasting 6 months of a new warrantee when my truck is just sitting in a garage for the next 6 months
him: ‘o well thats all the more reason for you to star now. because its just sitting, your head gaskets are going dry up and you will sieze your motor. according to JD Power and Associates, thats the most common breakdown problem among all cars in america’
me: ‘thats the most rediculous thing ive ever heard, im sorry’
him: ‘well how do you know that?’
me: ‘i kno more about cars, and my truck in particular than you think. i’ve rebuilt several engines, and know that the statement that you just made is probaly not only a lie, its so far removed from anything logical, its not even funny’
him: ‘well, im sure you probably know a lot about cars, you’ve probably been around older cares a lot more than me, but these new cars are totally different. you sound about 30-35?’
me: 'im 19" him: ‘o. well, who are you going to trust then, JD Power Associates, or what you know’
me: what i kno, because i kno what you’re trying to tell me is a completel laod of bullshit. dont try to pull that on me, because your jsut trying to scare me into thinking something bad is going to happen to my truck so that i’ll but this warrantee so you can get your comission. im not buying it. now, are you going to give me a price quote, which is all i want, or not?’
him: ‘well, unless you buy today, we will not accept you into the prgram at all. we dont accept repeat customers…blah blah blah’
so, i now have the following opinions:
-
he does have a point: im sure my head gaskets could deteriorate from a car being stored…for maybe 10 or 20 years. i really dont think 6 months of it just being parked in my garage is really going to do too much harm.

what they’re implying, is that unless you dont buy the warrantee right then and there, they will not accept you at any other time. ever. doesnt that defeat the purpose of a free quote? isnt a quote an estimate of the cost of services, with no binding contract to accept those services or pay a penalty? if they’re advertising a free quote on thier website, and then call you with the quote but explainto you that if you do not accept the terms of the quote and enter into a contractual agreement with them right then and there, then you will not be eliegible for ANY services of thiers EVER again, isnt that false advertising?
