I have to say, we are absolutely overwhelmed at the generosity so many people have shown this little dog. Thank you all once again.
Cookie was actually excited and happy to be at the vet this morning. She is out of surgery now, it went well. The vet said she was a real trooper, and should heal pretty quickly. For now, she is staying with one of our most experienced fosters and enjoying being spoiled.

I just had a $1300 vet bill for my cat so I know how quickly it adds up. Hope Cookie is doing well and on way to a quick recovery.

Post-surgery. As you can see she is resting comfortably. She’ll have the stitches in for 2 weeks, to make sure the eyelid closes completely. It probably itches like crazy, but she’s only pawing at it a little. Cookie and PLR thank everyone for their help in giving this dog a second chance at a life free of abuse and who knows what else.

Still unsure why people feel the need to abuse dogs. Keep those updates rolling!
I should add that the vet needed closure on Cookie, so after further investigating while operating he did determine it was in fact blunt force trauma/crushing to the eye that caused the damage. Probably pretty violent too, to damage the optic nerve and cornea so much.
