Couple brake questions

Two issues:

  1. I’m getting a staggered chirp from the brakes while I’m driving that increases with speed. Kind of sounds like when the chirpers rub, but they’re not. It stops if you just lightly touch the brakes. Maybe the calipers are hanging up?

  2. I don’t seem to have a lot of brake. I have to push the pedal pretty far before it starts to slow me. When I’m going slow I can almost put the pedal to the floor without even coming close to locking them up. Maybe brakes need bled? I might not have as much vacuum with this cam - what happens in that case? Do you just get less brake assist or less stopping ability?

Any other ideas before I start tearing stuff apart?

well, check the brakes…all 4 corners.

A cammed up motor with no vacuum will give you a harder pedal, so yours going almost to the floor is something different.

…you can even just check the fluid. if all the brakes are getting worn, then the fluid level will be down…this is if its never been touched, or at least maintained correctly.

That’s what I thought about the vacuum, since there’s less power assist. THere’s plenty of pad so the fluid level is good. I don’t usually mess with hthe fluid level since it comes back up to full when you put new pads on.

Can you bleed ABS brakes without a scan tool? Does something need reset after doing it?

yes,call me ,i’ll explain

You need a scan tool to bleed abs. Could be in the master cyl.

no u dont!
