This thing is BAD-eFFing-ASS. There’s not many thing this side of a stock 4 cylinder with a fart cannon that sound better than a big inch V8 with an open exahust.

:headbang:

The car is just incredible, and they arent slowing down for a second. I cant believe how involved they get too, a dry sump oil system, completely different material for the frame, huge brakes, awesome seats etc etc all in a car that can daily drive and gets better mpg than most cars, and is down right CHEAP compared to what it runs with

yeah…the new z06 is nothing less then amazing

oh yea, for sure!

yummy… cant wait till people start wrecking them so that the chassis’s can wind up in classic corvettes, lol http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/roadtests/firstdrive/2006/chevrolet.corvette.z06/corvette.z06.chassis.500.jpg

this car is so different then the standard Corvette I almost think it deserves a different Name. The amount of technology and high tech materials they stuffed into this thing is ridiculous. Glad to see Chevy has finally stepped up to the plate.

I don’t think that chevy has ever really needed to “step up to the plate” with the corvette platform. Vettes have always been an awesome buy. I do however believe that they need to step it up with some of the other crap they have been putting out.

in my opinion vettes havent been up to the corvette standard since 1970, only since the emergence of the c5 and c6 are they comming back to what they should be.

nobody cares what you think:hay:

hahah… I do agree with GSX tho… most corvettes have been junk up until the C5.

Chevy did need to step up to the plate when discussing high performance cars. (Camaro is not in that category) Ford is spitting out amazing cars like the GT and Shelby Cobra, Dodge has the Viper… Chevy really has not done much innovating in the supercar arena… Looks like that is starting to change.

^ that’s the link without the double http://

;c )

ha, I thought “wow, that track looks really familiar…” then I hear it’s VIR!
fantastic.

Why does this one have the old ugly steering wheel?

Thanx Jan

C4s were battling 911s and M3s on the racetrack in their time and doing quite well to boot. In fact, they are still pretty dominant in auto-x. How many other cars from the 80’s can you name that can run with the latest and greatest and still win? :gotme:

Ford Tempo 4wd. Most definitely.

BTW, it went 7:43 @ the 'ring on run-flat street tires.

""Chevy pulled out the obligatory Nürburgring Nordschleife lap times to make the point: With Jan Magnussen, winner of the 2004 and 2005 Le Mans 24 Hour, at the helm, the Z06 clocked a seven-minute, 42.99-second lap of the 13-mile Green Hell, 16 seconds faster than a Z51-equipped C6. Porsche’s $440,000, 604-hp Carrera GT, with a seven-minute, 32.44-second lap, is the only production car to have gone quicker. For perspective, Lamborghini’s $283,000, 580-hp Murciélago clocked in at seven minutes, 50 seconds, and the $452,000, 671-hp McLaren-Mercedes SLR at seven minutes, 52 seconds.

Thus Hill is being modest when he comments, “Our benchmark car was the Porsche 911 Turbo—that’s a car we purchased and have present whenever we’re doing an important assessment.” And then he can’t resist taking the expected swipe. “We also have a Viper, but we knew we were going to leave the Viper far behind,” he adds, fighting to suppress the hint of a mischievous schoolboy smile tugging at his mouth. The new, more powerful Viper GTS may prove Hill wrong, but he could to varying degrees add 911 Carrera S, Aston Martin DB9, Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari F430 to the hit list. The new 997-series 911 Turbo, like the Ford GT, should match up well with Z06, but even if these cars ultimately prove quicker, they likely won’t leave the Z06 “in the dust.” Those cars will also demand buyers dig far deeper into that offshore account.""

sweet ass corvette

It’s OK

X… :stuck_out_tongue:

newest road & track has a huge article on the Z06, including the subsection “building the beast”.

believe it or not, the Z06 is actually LIGHTER than the next lightest C6. normally when you build a hard-core version of something, you make it heavier with all those beefed-up parts. not here: cf fenders + magnesium cradle and roof + balsa sandwich floorboards, etc… = GM getting pretty serious about super sports cars. couple that with 505 bhp, a better power-to-weight ratio than my baby, the GT, and superb aerodynamics - pay the man.

that said, the SRT-10 Viper’s still faster through 60 and the quarter :stuck_out_tongue:
