Point taken, but Letchworth is huge. Even on holiday weekends you can find trails without people. Instead I found myself in something like the state fair midway, lol.
PA is locked down harder that we are, and I’m sure a lot of those people were from out of state.
The IRS did a major update to the get my payment site over the weekend and as of today it finally was able to find me. Said it didn’t have my direct deposit info (which is BS since I’ve direct debited my payment the last 2 years) so I entered that and should be getting my gubment Becks soon.
It does say for those that have symptoms or have been exposed. So if you say you’ve been exposed to get the test, do they then contact trace to everyone you live with or is that only if you’re positive… I wonder.
COVID-19 testing available in select locations.
COVID-19 molecular and antibody testing is now available for all members of the community at the following centers in Western New York, with no appointment needed. Tests will be administered to those who display symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19.
I got the swab test done at walden walmart hosted by Quest, came back pretty fast, negative. Just over exaggerate your symptom online through Quest and you will get an approval, no need to go through the doctor.
2nd hand knowledge (friend’s daughter works there and just txt’d him) that Geico just notified their employees they will not be bringing people back into the offices until AUGUST 1st at the earliest.
That seems so dumb. No one knows what the situation is going to be like by the end May and they’re already making WFH decisions until August?
Ha…exactly what a friend and I are chatting about. This may be the great wakeup moment for Geico when they realize there’s zero reason to put all your call center people in a $20+ million building when you can just route the calls to their house and do all the same monitoring you did before. And no more need to hire everyone from one local labor pool when you can now recruit nationwide.
Weird question - any talk of layoffs with geico? I’m assuming not since they’re giving money back to customers which, to me, suggests they’re raking in some major dough
insurers are saving huge right now. everyone is locked into their premiums and now driving more than 50% less. auto claims are down more than 50% globaly right now. that’s legit from global software providers to insurers.
Geico probably saving several million dollars per day right now.
That’s what I figured (and hoped to hear). The buyer of my house works for geico, and for obviously selfish reasons I’m hoping they don’t have any employment issues…
Saving money and seeing higher productivity. Anecdotally I’m hearing from several businesses that productivity is way up as employees are working from home.
I know that I’m probably more productive because I’m working more. Work time is suddenly less defined - there’s no clear start and end of my work day. So while I’m farting around more throughout the day probably, I’m working later into the evening and over the weekends than I normally would.
Side note - I drive a truck these days. Not driving to work, and not filling it up regularly is mighty nice. I’ve become more aware of the $300/mo I’m probably spending in gas. Lease is up in a couple months and an EV seems pretty tempting
