cranks but won't start :(

alright

i was on the highway when my car starts smoking and shuts of. i get it towed to my house and see what happened. The head is messed ( i think). Anyway now when i go to start it , the engine cranks but won’t fire. I see a bit of coolent leeking from the head when i attempt to start it…soo i’m thinking its the head leaking, fine, but shouldn’t it start even with it leaking and how can i check the compreeions rate in there… Or anything else that i can try to get it going again.

ANYTHING!!!

what colour was the smoke and where was it coming from? The exaust or from under the hood?

^^^ Answer that question first, it’ll help out on the diagnosis.

Looks like your head gasket is seriously leaking/blown, possible even more, and you’ve lost compression as Freak said. Don’t crank it anymore, it won’t start, especially if your cylinders are contaminated with coolant and oil.

Check your oil. I your gasket is gone and it wont start because of coolant in the cylender then you will surely see coolant in your oil. Also if you were turning it over and there was coolant in the cylenders it would be forced into your exuahst which meens you would see traces of coolant from your tail pipe ,if it makes it that far .jack up the front of your car and watch for coolant coming out the tail pipe. If you don’t see coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant than don’t go ripping your head off right away . While there is a good chance your gasket is gone yuo should the cheapest stuff first. where is the coolant leeking from on the head? Check your plugs for fouling. Did the car overheat before it died? is your coolant level way down? It most likely is a head gasket like evryone else says but that is a costly and time consuming job so I personaly go over all other posabilities before I put the efort into a new head gasket and find out that wasn’t the real problem. I speak from experience I did a head gasket once and then found out that it was a cracked block, so I waisted 200 bucks and and a 3/4 of a day when I could have been out jetsking. good luck
