GM manual says to match mark the crankshaft balancer hub to the front cover. But if the crankshaft rotates while taking off the hub, then you’ll be off when it’s reinstalled to the mark. Wouldn’t it be better to match mark the hub to the crankshaft instead?
comes off only one way & goes back on the sameway!!
The balancer only goes on the hub one way, but the hub can go on the shaft any direction.
shouldn’t there be a keyway on the shaft?

haven’t actually taken it off, but it doesn’t look like there’s one in the manual. i assumed it was just an interference fit. we’ll see!
