credit card theft

so tonight the girlfriend was calling QVC to order something for her mother for x-mas and noticed that her emergency credit card (target visa) was missing so she called to see if any chargers have been made and sure enough there was a 500 cash advance made the 27th of November in buffalo in Lafayette square and then they tried to make another one about 2 blocks away on main street due it declined them.she left her pin number in her wallet but in a different part away from the card. so she called today and said that they canceled the card and will forward it to the fraud unit. they said she is not liable for the money unless they discover she did it. She thinks it was somebody at work that took the card but isn’t sure who and isn’t sure how long the card was gone. her days off are Monday and Tuesday and the advance was made on Wednesday however she works till 12midnight so somebody had to of taken it Sunday the 23rd or before. she wont tell her boss until she hears from the card company and she wont file a police report with buffalo pd… do u think she should tell her boss and/or file a police report??? input please

Wait.

How did you get get a girlfriend?

File the police report with the information from the Bank; that way the cops can get the ATM video and identify the person who did it. Then deal with her boss.

both, don’t ask nyspeed.

don’t keep pin numbers in your wallet.

Geoff i am sorry to inform you but i have been dating a girl i met at work for almost 10 months now

lol shit.

Against her will?

In my experience, my cc company wouldn’t cover it -in the end- until I filed a police report. I say in the end because they kept telling me they would(but wouldn’t) until they had no excuse not too. If it happened to me in her situation, I would do both. Time is always a factor so the sooner the better

you don’t need input and she should be covered – ATMs have cameras so they will be able to see who did the transaction. so as long as the credit card company removes the charges do nothing more.

I just had one of my credit card numbers stolen recently but it happened due to a place that I used my card having a database stolen (according to the credit card company). The annoying thing is that they won’t tell me which company had the problem. The good news is that the instantly fixed all of the charges and canceled the account and sent a new card.

not exactly my style…

Punch her in the tits for keeping the pin in her wallet.

Other than that I’d tell her not to worry about it. I had a fraudulent purchase show up on my card one. Called the company, they asked a few questions and sent me a form with pretty much the exact same questions that I had to fax back and that was the end of it. Charge removed, new cards issued, never heard anything more about it.

I was doing a quick search on google based on those purchases and I think I found the girl who took your card.

my wife had her purse stolen and she HAD to file a police report before the money was put back in her account. this dumbass used it for gas, walgreens and then tried to use it at the ATM inside the walgreens hoping they would guess the pin number. The atm kept the car after so many attempts. We have still not heard from BPD or keybank about the outcome over 1.5 years later.

LOL… it’s so obvious it’s funny.

just saying

lol +1 to tit punching

I really don’t see the cops working very hard over $500 bucks, or the manager being able to do a damned thing, but do what you want. I wouldn’t waste my time unless the CC company demanded a police report.

Some fggt stole my card number (not even the actual card) in Jamaica and treated himself to several new computers, a shopping spree at a clothing store, burger king twice, etc. Managed to rack up $4k in fraudulent charges by the time I landed in Buffalo. All I did was call the CC, report it stolen, specify which transactions were fake, and sign something. Then they just end up not paying the retailer who obviously didn’t require proper ID.

thanks for that BTW. the chicken tenders were dry as fuck though.

Its a policy not to require ID by mastercard and visa. I didn’t believe it either, but if you poke around the credit forums, you will learn this. Also a store that requires ID is in violation of the agreement between them and Mastercard/Visa. People report stores all the time.

The store still gets paid, the credit card company eats it, or has insurance to cover its losses.

Wasn’t Joanna in St. Louis recently… just saying :mamoru:

He didn’t notice my weave OR my airbrushed nails :frowning:
